I have been working at Dairy Queen full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I love the overall atmosphere of a Dairy Queen, it's hard not to love your life when you make Ice Cream for a living. Being the boss, I get to set the tone of the whole store and I love the interactions I get to have with my team, I know each and every one of them on a personal basis as well, which I find to be awesome.

    Cons

As much as I love my job, there are the usual cons that go along with being a store manager - long hours, constantly fixing things, etc. I also wish there were greater opportunity within the corporation as a whole, but sadly I think I'm at the top level I can reach with DQ.

    Pros

Fun place to work while you are still in school. Made a lot of great freinds, and my manager was really down to earth.

    Cons

Customers could be impatient, especially in the summer when the store was really busy. I

I have been working at Dairy Queen part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The co-workers are all really nice and a flexible schedule. It's not too stressful; a nice balance between life and work.

    Cons

It was hard to remember everything that was needed to be done and the boss was horrible. The experiences would have been nicer if the boss was horrid. He just expected everything to be super, super, SUPER PERFECT no matter what and it made the job more stressful than it should be. Plus, he made a big deal about every little thing and he was cheap. Food was only 50& off only when you're working, and no waste or mistakes was allowed, so you had to scrape every last bit. Also, there were no benefits.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Dairy Queen is nice to work at, but make sure you work for a nice boss or else everything goes downhill. In my city, Dairy Queen centres are privately owned.

I worked at Dairy Queen part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    - good part-time hours in summer (good for students)
    - few requirements; easy to get hired
    - flexible scheduling; easy to get time off
    - employees get free fountain drinks! (depends on location; one of the places I worked did this, but the other didn't)

    Cons

    - HOLY TENDINITIS BATMAN; loads of people had pain from performing the same tasks (operating the soft serve machines/preparing blizzards, mostly) many times a day. The pain was bad enough that a few of them (me included) went to see doctors about it.
    - You must be good at multitasking--but even if you are, there are times when it's gonna be very stressful, especially if you're working the drive-thu
    - Beware of making mistakes with people's orders. A decent manager won't blame you for an honest mistake, but an angry customer often takes it personally, and people get REALLY ANGRY about their food.

I worked at Dairy Queen part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

None. Except that there's absolutely no responsibility felt by those employed their to be the "best they can be". I need to write twenty words. Am I there yet? Yes.

    Cons

Terrible pay, hard work for nothing. Management sucks. Staffed by high school drop-outs who don't know a thing about anything, really. My manager stole from my boss and she was also mean.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pay more money to employees.
