Pros – Soo many new high level execs have come in with a key objective to make it a better work environment. Everyone is so focused, it's become a really good place to work very quickly. Yes they get reports on when employees come in and leave, but they use them to make sure employees aren't working too hard. Personally I love it, but I'm fairly new.
One of the coolest things I've seen is that they let employees change groups once they feel like they've mastered their current position. Lots of employee training and growth potential.
Cons – Lots of new and young people but I'm not sure that's bad.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep Charlie out of the building.

Pros – Paycheck, although not industry standard.
Covered parking if you get there early enough
Cafe onsite with good food
Cons – Lack of communciation, especially as one goes up the ladder. There are quite a few managers that are not willing to meet to resolve issues or find a more efficient way of handling tasks. Too many people that have made it up the ladder and are just waiting for retirement. The CEO sent out an email recently that stated changes were made for the better...that memo announced that VPs had become Sr. VPs, etc. In accounting, employees are expected to work 60+ hours a week with no compensation. Managers deny doctor's appointments and suggest they be made before 9 a.m. and after 4 p.m. or at lunch...but only between 11:30 and 1:00...not a lot of doctors that have appointments during those hours.
There are many employees that have a real attitude about their work and are either afraid to share what they know because they are afraid they will lose their job or will not speak at all because they are afraid they will be given something else to do.
Too much micromanagement...you hired employees for their knowledge, let them use it. The interview process is a joke...takes two months to finally get an interview. Have to "pass" the tests and assessments given...they should really look at some of the employees that were there prior to the assessments...don't think they would pass now.
Advice to Senior Management – Look up the ladder at some of the mid managers that do not have the "DISH attitude" as described by CEO Joe Clayton. There are some new managers that have the right attitude and ambition, but I wonder how long that will be before they lose that and just go with the flow and continually see a turnover.

Pros – fair contracting terms
good contracting experience
Cons – weak processes and hence lack of predictibility
Advice to Senior Management – think strategic and stop focusing on what you think...think customer - means more market research and customer engagement. lesser of SVP and EVP lists and grids and more strategic and market defined goals.

Cons – - health benefits are so-so
- bureacracy
- changing business policies
- lack of communication between departments
- changing performance goals and metrics
Advice to Senior Management – Develop both a short and long-term business plan, share that plan & vision with employees, so we can all be on the same page, striving to make DISH #1 instead of everyone being running around doing their own thing and pointing fingers at each other.

Pros – The people. I was pleased to find that DISH is full of motivated, dedicated, and driven people. They recognize that the company's history is in the past and are focused on trying to elevate DISH to new heights.
Cons – The hiring process is overly long, but the opportunities are wide once you get in the door.
Advice to Senior Management – Add well-child coverage and annual physicals to salaried health plan.

Current Employee – been working at DISH full-time for less than a year
Pros – Other technicians are usually friendly and inviting and willing to help you out. You get to work on your own. Yes it is hard work but it is fairly straight forward and routine once you get it down.
Cons – Where do I start.... Your upper management does not and will not care about you, all they care about are your performance scores (metrics). Metrics are difficult for new employees to hit. You will be graded on things that are 100% out of your control, for instance if your customer does not have permission from the landlord or building owner to install a dish you will get hit with a cancellation and your job completion metric will be effected. If your customer orders a receiver that can connect to the internet but they dont have internet service you will get hit with a failure to connect to internet and your IP connectivity metric will suffer. If it is a slow day and your office has too many techs in a majority of you will only get routed with 1 or 2 jobs to start your day. You will then sit there after you finish waiting 30-40 minutes after each job for more work effectively killing your Points per hour metric. You will be expected to sell terrible products to your customers for "reward points" that you can save up to buy things on a reward site. You will not receive any commission for your sales. They will tell you that your sales dont effect your performance review meanwhile constantly hounding you about your "poor" sales. If you have a family you will NEVER see them on the days that you work. 12-15 hour days are common. There is so much more but im just getting annoyed writing about it.... All in all STAY AWAY
Advice to Senior Management – Listen to your technicians and make them happy. Your technicians are the face of the company. If you dont have happy technicians you will not have happy customers. Give hard working technicians credit where it is due. Review your health benefits package... it is god awful.

Pros – * There are some really great people at DISH
* Employee discount on DISH television service (but shouldn't it be free?)
* Lots of field positions where you can work from home
* Innovative products, such as the Hopper
Cons – * The worst health benefits and vacation benefits of any company I've worked for
* Micro-management and unprofessionalism at all levels of the company
* If you work from home, you're expected to be "on call" at all times, even weekends and days off
* If you work in the office, they are very strict on punctuality (even if you're a minute late, and even if you're an IT person who has worked all night on a computer issue)
* If you travel with co-workers, you will have to share a hotel room
* Expense reimbursement takes about 3 weeks
* They do not give you a company credit card for expenses. You pay everything up front.
* Lack of direction of the company
* Terrible reputation of the company - upper management has resorted to asking DISH employees to write good things about the company on Glassdoor to try and improve their ratings
Advice to Senior Management – Managers - if you would trust your employees more, morale and employee turnover rates would improve immensely. Also, lower the health deductible from $1250/year.

Pros – 4 day work week. Decent money if you stay with the company long enough
Cons – Management atleast at my location was a joke. They dont care about anything except themselves. They treat and talk to all employees like they are kids.
Advice to Senior Management – Get rid of all management from General Manager on down to Field Service Managers.

Pros – Getting paid for travel. Getting paid over minimum wage (barely).
Cons – Unable to get raises due to company "not being able to afford it", no perks with DISH service, at all.
