I have been working at Cox Communications full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Get big services for less prices; get an opportunity to select a new shift, bid for your convenient working hours when new hours becomes available every year; cash in bonus for sales;. a reloaded reward cards for incentives.

    Cons

a lot of work, needs a lot of patience, poor turn over, pay is average compared to the workload; demanding aggressiveness to pursue sales on customers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase pay especially to your big pool of technical staff who does tremendous amount of job for the company. The small tokens are okay, but increase pay would make staff committed to keep their jobs and give your staff a sense of loyalty to the company.

I have been working at Cox Communications

    Pros

Great environment. Hard work will be recognized. I have built lasting relationships here. People have bright personalities and sense of humor. Leaders of all levels engage with everyone regardless of pay grade. People truly learn names and the longer you work here the more you feel part of a family.

    Cons

I wish there were more team functions or team builders. They seem to penny pinch big time. Could be due to the costly competitive market. Nation wide, solid company but the very noticable shrinking staff in Northern Virginia is a concern. Many opportunities available but must be willing to relocate which is not a con but it is an option not ideal for all.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

more transparent with the goals and vision of future company endeavors. It would reduce nonsense circulating rumors and assumptions.

    I worked at Cox Communications

    Pros

Some of the best people I've ever worked with --- mature, ethical professionals who know their stuff, not afraid to disagree, sometimes vehemently, without it becoming personal. Contractors smile when they remember working at CCI.
Terrific, open & transparently, humanely managed IT organization in a company with solid values you actually believe in. They mean it sincerely when they say they care about employees.
Lots of room to move up if you've got the chops and can learn your way through the organization. Okay if you stay where you're happiest, too. Compensation above market for skilled positions. Pension with five-year vest.

    Cons

Large organization, with all that entails. Organizational maturity is uneven, and some areas quicker to move than others.
There's a bit of an old-boy network, and you'll feel excluded if your team isn't run by someone who's part of it. It's not a big deal; just buck up and do your best, people will take note.
On multidivisional projects, not always clear who's driving. Possible to get around obstacles, but why not just remove them?
Two weeks vacation is hard to adjust to if you're a senior resource accustomed to more like four. You'll get back up to three pretty quickly, though.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't let market pressures take your eye off the focus on supporting employees.
Don't change your values, ever. This is a great company; that's even harder to hold on to than it is to build.
Keep doing what you're doing, and double down on delivery speed for key initiatives.
