    Pros

I worked here as an intern- the compensation was great as a high school. Many engineering supervisors will provide you with the tools to do well, but you need to be self-motivated if you want to succeed. The compensation is great- well above many other places where engineers can work in NYC.

    Cons

Sometimes the hours can be long- but the workplace environment compensates for that.

Consolidated Edison Company of New York

    Pros

Company is welcoming employees with diverse cultural backgrounds, and there are many opportunities to gain additional experience by transitioning to another position within the company. The job transition is generally available after two years at current position. The hours are mostly reasonable, unless you are in accounting or a few other departments.

    Cons

The opportunities for advancement are limited due to fierce competition for a limited number of higher level management positions available.

  7.

    Pros

Overall, not a bad company to work for stable employment, the work is challenging enough that you can pursue a graduate degree and still get your work done. Tuition reimbursement, 401k and pension, maternity leave and lactation rooms at the head quarters.

    Cons

Lack of leadership. somewhat circular methods of getting work done, inconsistencies, attempts at being a matrixed organization not fully thought out.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

learn how to manage. A smart manager knows that he/she is not all knowing, but surrounds themselves with knowledgeable persons and leverage their skills while at the same time develop their employees and enable them to grow and achieve more. Understand the core of mentorship, leadership and followership. Time management. Plan, think ahead.
