Systems Administrator (Former Employee) Piscataway, NJ (US)

    ProsGood Dental Benefits.
    Company Store.
    Few Good Co-workers. Summer hours.
    Meet Wall Street expectation.

ConsGreat place to work. But has changed a lot in past few years.
Clueless Middle Managers without any technical or Management skills.
Fake or Completely non existence HR.. Your manager is HR and he dictates policies. Which are based upon liking. 3rd party Mirco runs the business ( kickbacks). ESC is completely unethical department. All CP principles like Valuing CP, MWR are violated. If you complain you'r are pretty much done. Your career is at dead end.
3rd party does all good project work. You are stuck with all garbage work. No DR planning.. Good Luck if something goes really wrong in Pisct.. You better sell your stock! Director is completely clueless from old school .Doesn't even know how to spell IT... Out of 12 months 7 months he is travelling.. You only hear him when there is production machine downtime as his bonus is tied.. Otherwise he has no interest to listen to you..
Lack of training. Blame games. No leadership skills. Complete Chaos place for real techies.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet rid of middle managers.. will save company lot of money. They are useless. Look at your DR..
You will never recover.. Good Luck! Give to IBM.

ProsKnowledgable CPG company, stock price reflects effeciency and growth, fair time-off policies including Summer Fridays, very much interpersonal

ConsHighly political, slow moving, bad at recognizing young talent

Advice to Senior ManagementFind a way to recognize your best entry level talent and then reward and grow them. The HR department at Colgate is very weak.

    Great company to work for

Finance (Current Employee) New York, NY (US)

ProsExcellent benefit, exposure to cross functional department and no limit to career growth (for those willing to relocate frequently)

ConsJob safety not anymore guaranteed with several outsourcing initiatives toward Mexico and India effecting many departments (Accounting, Finance, HR, IT, Customer Service...)

    Very old school mentality.

Strong resistance to change as well as extremely long process to implementation when such process changes are approved.

Advice to Senior ManagementToo much uncertainty in light of the current changes and outsourcing plans which is dragging efficiency down, need to focus on CP people and show the true "Caring for People" in this difficult time

Good Company but limited opportunity for those not recruited right out of school

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsExcellent salary and benefits and great discounts on products.

ConsThe company tends to identify those they want to promote early on by ability to relocate around the country and world. If you are not recruited right out of college you may be limited in opportunities for advancement.

Advice to Senior ManagementUtilize the talent within the company more effectively.

highly political. Ethics exist only in theory. Do not accept a job here if you have other choice

    Analyst (Current Employee)

Prossalary, other perks such as dental insurance

ConsVery slow moving, political, competence completely ignored and irrelevant for management. No transparency and clear commutation, very bad planning. Ethics are at a very low level. Company doesn't see anything wrong in bullying on people.

Advice to Senior ManagementChange all middle management. Hr trainings needed first for HR themselves. HR are absent. Nobody cAres about employees. Very bad managers out there.
