I have been working at Cerner full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Lot of chances to learn.
    Growing company, many opportunities.
    Many young talents here.
Nice place to start your career.
We just bought Siemens health care department by cash!
Overall, I am proud of this company and what we are doing here.

    Cons

Salary is far lower than the national average. Bay area usually pays $120,000 as entry level software engineer salary. Cerner only pays about half of that as entry level salary. Even Cerner's major competitor , Epic, which is also in middle west, pays about $110,000 as entry level engineer salary. Cerner's interview may be easier than those companies, but we are doing same job, if not greater, as Epic's engineer. Why we are paid lower?
This is probably the only thing that I am not happy with in this company. Other than that, I love this company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You are doing great. But how about raise a good engineer's salary higher. As least to match your competitor company.

I have been working at Cerner full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    * Flexibility
    * Convenience of gym, pharmacy, clinic, work from home
    * Network with other similar associates
    * For the most part you are appreciated and recognized

    Cons

There is a lot of work to do, but not a lot of resources to do it. This often leaves people feeling over worked, stressed, and easily burnt out.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have had a decent experience with management. I think they feel our pain when we are overworked. They do the best they can by recognizing us, but there is only so much we can do.

I worked at Cerner full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

You're on your own schedule (assuming you don't schedule any meetings). Great experience with project management: financial aspect (great learning experience), event planning, administrative tasks, a lot of networking within the company and also with external clients. The team is great! Management encouraged us to develop which ever skills we wanted to help us grow in our career. If ever I needed help, all I had to do was ask. The chance to travel: I got to go abroad and to many places with in the US! Great company!! Work hard and you will be recognized. Easy to get promoted. Only reason I left was because my boyfriend was relocated and I couldn't work remotely.

    Cons

It got a bit administrative at times: granting access, taking notes during meetings, etc. but it was good to get the experience. Some projects are very large and can be very demanding. Nothing a good attitude and communication can't fix.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep up the good work!!
