John W. Casella
Current Employee – been working at Casella Waste Systems
Pros – There is plenty of room to move around in the company, and try out different positions. The working environment is laid back, and friendly. They put trust in their employees to get their jobs done.
Cons – High employee and management turnover. No yearly raises. No raises for taking on a more challenging, or different position.
Advice to Senior Management – Look into the jobs that people do, see if they have special skills, and can do things that the company usually hires out to contractors. Reward these employees with higher compensation than new hires.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Former Employee – worked at Casella Waste Systems full-time
Pros – You will receive a paycheck. There are some exceptional people working here, however they are the hourly employees.
Cons – Casella pays its employees the bare minimum despite having extremely dedicated, hard working intelligent individuals working for them. The company allows management to make decisions concerning terminating an employee based on whether the manager 'likes' an individual not on the persons job performance. Casella has gone through an excessive amount of management changes which has caused confusion for employees because new management changes everything, even what worked. Employees don't know who they should report to.
Advice to Senior Management – Employees are often asked for what they need or what their thoughts are but it doesn't appear anyone ever actually listens. Dedicated, productive, and valuable employees are over looked and / or fired because they don't fit in some sort of 'mold'. Employees sacrifice personal time and work off the clock just to get the job done, maybe you should ask why.

Current Employee – been working at Casella Waste Systems
Pros – Dedicated employees, good benefits, and a passionate CEO.
Cons – Top down management, employees feel they have no voice with minimal if any reward for their hard work and efforts, and leaders who are chosen because of who they know, not because they are the best fit.
Advice to Senior Management – Take some of the leadership advice you feed to your people. Put more effort in the selection process of your leaders so your hard working hourly employees can feel that pride they once had.

Former Employee – worked at Casella Waste Systems
Pros – Good people at the hourly and lower mgmt levels.
Cons – The company is broke. People are tired and demoralized. No faith in Sr. Mgmt. Trying too hard to be like the "big boys". Local, hometown feel has been destroyed by current mgmt. Noone listens to the type of equipment you need. Lots of money spent on putting lipstick on pigs, none spent on their people.
Advice to Senior Management – sell to Waste Connections immediately.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
