I worked at Capita full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

innovative in their business development practices, get interesting projects and that is valuable experience for someone in the early stages of their career

    Cons

remuneration is not competitive, there is a slight degree of overconfidence when it comes to their own ability, coming from management and filtering right down to lower staff.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    pay better!

I have been working at Capita full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Are willing to give opportunities to current employees.
They have their fingers in lots of different pies so huge variation of opportunities.

    Cons

Pay is not great compared to some companies and getting a pay rise when moving internally can be very difficult and a long drawn out process (there's a long standing myth about maximum pay rise being 10% even when changing roles, but it's only a myth as my last pay rise was around 30%, you just have to stick it out and keep pursuing it if you really want it).
The different departments and business units often operate as totally different entities and there is often no level of co-operation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make it easier for current employees to get the pay rise they deserve. I think the current policy actually encourages the best employees to leave rather than work their way up in the business

    I worked at Capita

    Pros

Very driven entrepreneurial company. if you can see an opportunity and convince others around you of it, you are likely to be supported. Very well run business.

    Cons

Quite a fragmented business still, with a poor public reputation - unfairly in my opinion. It's one of the best run companies I've ever worked for.

I have been working at Capita full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Set hours, 9-5 - allows for reasonable social life
Plenty of opportunities to learn more administration skills
Can be challenging if you want it to be!
Generally nice people to work with
    Enthusiastic and friendly team leaders/management
Training is kept straightforward, learn at your own pace
    Generous Christmas dinners

    Cons

No particularly good company benefits offered, just the basics
You will always find some people difficult to work with but its part of having a job
No travel perks for using public transport which would have been great

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep the staff happy and the work place will certainly maintain a positive atmosphere which is good for keeping your trained colleagues!

I worked at Capita full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Good travel, culture isnt too bad, lots of smart people

    Cons

Literally every client is in the public sector. If you don't think you'll enjoy this, simply don't apply as it will really demotivate you when you're working from a tiny local council office doing work which is uninteresting.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more innovative rather than focus on Short Term profits. Take risks.

This year the community feel is poor, there wasnt even a Christmas party

I have been working at Capita

    Pros

if you've got some intellect you can manage to get away without doing much. If you want to progress, you need to have no morals, know how to manipulate and follow the chain of command

    Cons

considering all the pro's that I just described, I see no point in pointing out the cons because as soon as you enter the environment, they are self evident

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

perhaps bring in proper talent and

I have been working at Capita

    Pros

Standard working hours, can work overtime if available
Good for limited experience in contact centre as training was provided.
The people working alongside you on the phones are generally friendly and amiable.

    Cons

The career progression opportunities are very limited.
The salary appears to stay the same even after working there for a number of years
Management positions are more of a 'face fits' policy.
Temporary staff have no holiday entitlement and can be asked to leave without any notice.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make your employees feel more valued and treat them as individuals.

    Recommends
    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
