    Pros

innovative in their business development practices, get interesting projects and that is valuable experience for someone in the early stages of their career

    Cons

remuneration is not competitive, there is a slight degree of overconfidence when it comes to their own ability, coming from management and filtering right down to lower staff.

    Pros

A big company with a strong foothold in key markets, that combined with strong growth and a good culture makes it a good place to be working.

    Cons

Would benefit from more high level training courses, although if you can give a good case for a specific course they are generally provided.

I worked at Capita full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great highly technical environment with some very skilled individuals and also a large number of off-shore onsite developers make for a great place to learn and breed skills.

The Children's Services sector is great to work in as well, company benefits are very good in comparison to others, location in Bedford is beautiful surrounded by a river and lake and the office while cramped is clean and modern as is the equipment.

    Cons

Cramped offices, too many key staff leaving who had amassed a lot of experience and not enough communication or transparency at all levels.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employ some proper governance, communicate your thoughts down the through the levels to avoid an "us vs them" attitude and actually listen to employee ideas because some of those minions have some great thoughts and they know what works on the ground.

I worked at Capita part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The best thing about this job was the fellow people on the call floor. Everyone wanted to help with any call-related problems and people were generally really friendly.

    Cons

The management team were really uncooperative. The company paints itself as a caring firm that will work with staff but this simply wasn't the case. Several team mates were promised different hours when they started only to be told that they weren't getting them. People still on probation were sacked for having family emergencies. The computer systems were dreadfully slow. I jumped ship as soon as I was able - and I wasn't the only one

I worked at Capita full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Ability to be independent and access to terrific range of customers

    Cons

Managed by a select boys' club who manage through butt covering and blame culture. Appalling attitude to ethical approach and comes down to 'if your face fits'. Some inexperienced and awful managers acquired through buying companies - who are allowed to act like spoilt children whose toys have been taken away!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recognise real talent amongst the workers .. Don't be afraid of tackling bullying and bad management.

I have been working at Capita

    Pros

Good opportunities for progression, large IT provider with a very valuable contract in my area. Shorter is sometimes better don't you know?

    Cons

Difficulties were faced with a major migration project. Again, sometimes shorter can be better, did you not know that?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to be open minded. I don't envy you though.
