Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in Bethpage, NY (US)

I worked at Cablevision Systems full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Cablevision is highly motivated to advance their product offerings in a highly competitive marketplace. To maintain or increase market share, Cablevision needs to dispense with old-school thinking regarding what they *think* customers want and look at the data they have available to them. Some groups within Cablevision are doing this more effectively than others. Good benefits, decent vacation, some nice perks.

    Cons

Dysfunctional management and constant restructuring leaves many people in fear for their jobs, resulting in lower productivity and a real morale problem. Those in the ivory towers don't see it (or don't want to acknowledge it). Too many talented people have been let go in the course of trying out half-baked org structures led by people whose only 'talent' seems to be their ability to intimidate.

Current Employee - Field Service Technician in Riverhead, NY (US)

I have been working at Cablevision Systems full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

steady work is the best pro. There is always the option of overtime available to you. Some of the supervising staff are great.

    Cons

There are to many cons besides the ever changing policy as to what your review is based on. There's always knee jerk reactions from the corporate office. They do a poor job of making sure equipment such as ladders are up to date and safe. Like the title also says you are just a number replacable at anytime. I've seen many of my coworkers get away with pretty rediculous things where others get let go after a long career for a minor incident in there near flawless career. so no matter how long you have been there or how loyal you are you can always have the floor come out from under you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Appreciate the hard working technicians you have working for you and stop pretending to listen to there needs. Also if you stay without a union it doesn't mean that you can not have someone stand up for an employee in need.
