    Pros

Great company, good benefits, nice atmosphere. Most employees are friendly and willing to help you succeed.

    Cons

I was hired while still in school and expected to know as much as others who have been working in accounting for 5+ years. Training was minimal/unorganized. No on-boarding or introduction to company. Interns got more training and learned more about the company than new hires. Depending on your department, you may be expected to work some insane hours. My manager always pointed out the negative, never said anything good, and definitely played favorites with employees.

    Advice to Management

Look at departments with high turnover and ask what's going on that people aren't staying.

    Horrible Company

    Pros

Really can't think of any other than the benefits. Nothing good to say about this company.

    Cons

This company has been under a constant restructure since I started working there in 2008. Management keeps putting employees in new positions without giving them a choice in the move. They can't get any process to work so they keep switching gears while putting the employees thru hell. The pay is lower than other companies. Corporate politics and culture is highly toxic. Management fuels a hostile work environment.

    Advice to Management

Close the doors go out of business since that is where you are heading.

    Pros

If you work in the Livingston office, it's an easy commute for those in nearby suburbs who have a car. If you live in NYC and don't have a car, it's a train and then a 20 minute cab ride, because Livingston is not near any form of public transportation.

    Cons

Some very talented employees, but many managers are inept in their ability to manage staff. Some are rude and disrespectful. HR dept is dysfunctional. Good performance not rewarded financially. Constantly chasing meaningless metrics. Outdated technology; company is still using Internet Explorer 8.

    Pros

Good place to be for working parents looking for work place flexibility. Appears to a firm that is looking to grow especially thru OneWest acquistion. Strong executive leaders that are respected on Wall Street have brought CIT much relevance.

    Cons

Senior management lacks transparency. In certain groups things change and we end up finding out from other departments. Certain managers seem to only care about themselves and fail to communicate important issues to staff. This leads to inefficiencies and low morale. Unfortunately this has lead to lots of turnover. Also IT has many issues including speed of service and increased disruptions.

    Advice to Management

Start caring about your employees. Do not view them as just a #. The company also needs to be clear and stop dancing around true issues and resolve them with a consistent approach.

    Pros

Smart nice people, certain divisions growing really fast. The CEO has done a good job of growing the company. The corporate culture is hard working but definitely not crazy.

    Cons

In certain division, disorganized but people have good spirits about it. Certain divisions don't seem too busy but some are overworked.

    Advice to Management

Get some wins and hire more -

    Pros

Decent benefits; friendly enough people, though most are just as non-stoked to (still) be at CIT as you are.

    Cons

Terrible morale. Relatively low compensation compared to other banks. Constant stream of layoffs and people quitting (at least through 2012 & 2013).

    Pros

Pay - they overpay their new employees

    Cons

-management would rather see employees leave then reward existing employees
    -no career path
-constantly starting new projects without managing capacity
-only focusing on the present, no long-term view and no leadership skills on the management team

    Advice to Management

Abandon the acquisition strategy and focus on people and processes. Without fixing the core problems, CIT will always be a mediocre company at best.
