Former Employee – worked at Borders
Pros – Very easy going, nice atmosphere. But I did enjoy the good discounts and opportunities to meet new and interesting people such as the writers.
Cons – No prospects for people wanting to move up. Management was quite stale. There could have been more training.

Former Employee – worked at Borders part-time for more than a year
Pros – Discounts on books, music, DVDs, etc. Generally good about working with you if need be. It was a fairly standard retail job. It was good for me because I love books, but seeing as they seem to be going the way of the e-book and Amazon, the company is no more.
Cons – At time it felt like there were too many bosses present all the same time.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Former Employee – worked at Borders part-time for more than a year
Pros – Making coffee was so much fun, and the regulars are amazing!
Cons – I was promised a raise and never received one. Barely survived on this income. Borders rewards sign up percentages.
Advice to Senior Management – The management expected us to pull the same Borders rewards signup percentages as the cashiers selling books and miscellaneous items. People come to the coffee shop for coffee---not to be hounded about signing up for some card they have to pay for every year.
