I have been working at Bombardier Aerospace as an intern

    Pros

Thoroughly enjoyed working with the In-Service Engineering Structures team. Great place to work with a very supportive and co-operative team.

    Cons

IT issues. Computers are not always the best and IT response is slow.
    No civic holidays

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It's a very fast paced working environment at Bombardier. Be ready to experience a steep learning curve and put in a lot of hard work.

I worked at Bombardier Aerospace full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

A company that is prepared to take risks, invest in the future and develop employees to an extent. Employee communication has improved a lot. Lovely atmosphere in many departments, often a great cultural mix.

    Cons

The can be issues of silos: such as between particular business divisions. Employee turnover was a challenge in some areas. Remnants of autocratic ways of working can remain, but has improved.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to take well judged risks - as you have in the past. Invest in talent: some of your engineers are many times more productive than others - find a way to reward that. Continue to promote communication and movement of skills/people across business divisions.

I worked at Bombardier Aerospace full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Exposure on resume...experience in aerospace. .. middle managers and supervisors and individual contributor employees make it enjoyable with the relationships you develop with them.

    Cons

Women will never excel in this organization... Many Sr. Managers focus on their own personal growth... absolutely no work life balance with 14 hr days as a daily occurance... zero onboarding process... lack of dealing with poor performers... little reward or recognition to high performers... turnover high especially in human resources... uncaring Sr. Managers treat employees like numbers instead of people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on one plan and stick with it ... stop changing direction every year... deal with your poor perfomers and reward instead of bombarding your high performers with more... focus on your most expensive and precious asset: Your people!!!

I have been working at Bombardier Aerospace full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good for the CV. Benefits are good

    Cons

You are not allowed to ask any questions that might point to a problem.
Nepotism is seen at a very large scale; HR is not there for the employees, they seem very lost. If you are friends with the boss, then you will just sail through, even if you are a complete incompetent.
People with no technical knowledge are leading engineering projects.
No training is permitted due to cost containment. Young engineer are not being guided, very sad.
    Too many project leads/section chiefs/managers - who's working anymore?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should be more technical and less political, look at where the political decisions got you.
An overhaul of HR is needed.
Many employees complain to HR, but nothing is being done.

I have been working at Bombardier Aerospace

    Pros

Interesting field. Always busy. Depending on the management career growth can happen fast or never happen at all.

    Cons

Company grinds people. Huge company = inconsistent management practices. Lots of under performers are constantly overlooked.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start applying 21 century management practices (flexibility, wok/life balance etc.)

I worked at Bombardier Aerospace full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Salaries and working conditions are pretty good. Amazing products to work on. The company talks a good game about employee engagement, but doesn't necessarily deliver on it when it matters most. There are many talented people at Bombardier, it is a great place to meet friends and contacts for the rest of your working life (if you choose not to stay forever - which some do).

    Cons

The company is good when it could have been great, and rising in the company is not always based on merit. But then where is it, really? The senior management is mixed, however some recent leadership decisions at the top (view share price for evidence) have been terrible, indicating lack of planning and strategy. Using politics to get ahead is common.
