    Pros

This is about Prague (Czech Republic) development office of BarCap. Once you get passed the 3rd party recruiter company, where the initial process might be very different, BarCap inverview and hiring process is quite established - everything is happening fast enough, always as agreed with the applicant and on purpose

    Cons

nonearCap is usually requiring prooven experience in certain technologies, like SQL/T-SQL, multithreading, etc. and they are seriously asking about it on interviews and are canceling appli

I have been working at Barclays full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Seamless internal mobility process. Offers a broad range of products. Nice office space.

    Cons

Subject to excessive regulation, target of multiple domestic and foreign investigations resulting in major fines
Cannot compete with peers on comp; hemorrhaging talent over the last few years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in infrastructure, maintain competitive comp to retain high performing employees. Communicate more focus on what businesses the firm wants to be in long run.

Current Employee - Premier Telephony in Liverpool, England (UK)
Current Employee - Premier Telephony in Liverpool, England (UK)

I have been working at Barclays full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Met some great people on my team and some team leaders are lovely. You get some sort of community spirit in the contact centre.

Benefits and salary are good for the job.

Premier Telephony tends to be quiet for a phone job usually. It is not constant calls like Retail.

Some career opportunities if you try.

Company is trying to change and respect customer service over profit.

    Cons

Targets to promote digital options to 90 year old ladies.

No communication between departments so letters end up getting sent out to customers about something and we do not know about it and sound thick when customers call to query it.

Debit Card Fraud based in India - fraud should always be UK based.

Some important telephony departments closing at 5pm which is unhelpful at 10pm.

Branch telling customers to call when they can deal with an issue.

Too much emphasis on statistics like call times and hold times.

Senior management make decisions that the little people like us on the front line have to deal with.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to try and focus on the customer and not profit.

Understand that some people want to ring up or go into branch to do a transfer and hate being badgered to go online.

Former Employee - Documentation in Houston, TX (US)

I worked at Barclays full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Compensation was competitive. The people who came from NYC to train us in Houston were great.

    Cons

Poor work life balance. Manager had an NYC state of mind so she was not concerned with working timely and efficiently. Managers tend to micro manage and there is no consistency across teams. The benefits were just ok as far as prescription coverage I felt I paid more with Barclays. The company is behind tech wise and they are just now going through changes other banks went through years ago. They are having another relocation strategy after less than a year in Houston.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop making decisions so hastily. Value people more and don't be such a stickler for days off after working people for more than 12 hours a day.

    Pros

Good salary, flexi timing and nice work

    Cons

Decision making 100% with leaders even for you. You will never know what has happened so you are getting certain feedback.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be transparent to employee and know his part as well.
