Current Employee – been working at Autoliv full-time

ProsDepth of technical knowledge and experience of retained employees, still better-than-average corporate culture sincerely emphasizing continuous improvement and ethical behavior, new initiatives to maintain quality and technical edge, management priorities are conservative yet growth-oriented, opportunities for global assignments

ConsCheck-in-the-box mentality has been an unpleasant side effect of global standardization, no formal mentorship program or recognition of the benefits of one, somewhat alarming recent increase in turnover mostly among promising younger and mid-career employees, relatively flat structure can make lateral moves enticing, but limit opportunities for upward movement, quest to become a "global company" is straining the culture that once made the company great

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue pushing conservative fiscal management along with policies to encourage technological innovation and quality improvements. Do not sacrifice the culture that has been nurtured over decades for quick growth opportunities in developing markets, or risk even larger scale quality and ethics problems than seen recently. Develop and retain young talent with a strong mentorship program and rotational opportunities outside those provided to co-ops.

Current Employee – been working at Autoliv full-time for more than a year

ProsPay is good. Benefits are great. Standard production job.

ConsLeadership is based off of friendship/family relations outside of work. Constant sexual harassment cases kept hushed. Mandatory OT all the time (6-day work week).

Advice to Senior ManagementGraveyard is a shift that works too. Please treat your employees on that shift like real people.

Ogden, UT (US)

Former Employee – worked at Autoliv full-time for less than a year

ProsJob security, cleaninness of the shop, equipment

ConsToo many politics, i was hired by a third company, reviews (90 days) where done by someone who wasn't even in the shop. I could never discuse a salary adjustment with my supervisor or even a manager.

Advice to Senior ManagementCut the middle man on the reviews, salary discussion has to be done by direct supervisor or direct supervisor has to be present at the time of review and able to know the pay rate of employees.

ConsOverworked their employees like no other. They treated alot of them like dirt. the breaks were short and so was lunch. everything was all messed up.

Advice to Senior Managementthe management that I had wasnt very good at all, but im sure theres much better out there. my advice would be to listen to your employees more and have a little consideration.

Southfield, MI (US)

Former Employee – worked at Autoliv full-time

ProsGreat quality upper management, project managers, supervisors and engineers.
Engineers were recognized & compensated for their contributions.
Great team feel in most departments I encountered.

ConsBenefits started to get more expensive -- went from leading the industry with the best benefits [to attract top employees] to matching the competition.
Some elitist was divisive.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't allow the, "We are better than..." mentality to overtake a great environment to work in. Nip it in the bud. I know that there is allot of new business coming in, but don't allow it to cause you to loose sight of your greatest asset -- your employees.

Former Employee – worked at Autoliv full-time for less than a year

ProsGreat environment, managers are great to work with. A lot of room to experiment and do your own thing. Once you have the trust of your manager, you can really get a lot done in a just a summer. I felt like I was a necessary part of the team when I left.

ConsIt takes some time to get used to not having a clear objective. It also takes some time to get the trust of managers and engineers.
