    Dazed and Confused at APP

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

    ProsDecent pay and housing package.

ConsNot very encouraging to new comers.
Company has low moral due to never ending target setting.
    Confusing directions from the top.
Little guidance, would not recommend this company for one's first full time job.

Advice to Senior ManagementShould treat customers and employees with more respect and stop trying to cheat customers and employees.

Great learning place, bad employee satisfactions

Area Manager (Current Employee) Karawang, West Java (Indonesia)

ProsGreat learning place, lots of opportunities to learn various segments of business processes. Supportive team mates.

ConsToo much negative feelings in the atmosphere. Employee satisfaction are surprisingly low. Benefits are second to none. High and repetitive workloads.

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed to place more responsibilities to lower managements. Give more thought on employee's well-beings.

    Total Chaso

Administrator (Former Employee) Los Angeles, CA (US)

ProsGood relationships with the US team, great product if you can wait 4 to 6 weeks if your lucky

ConsTo many to mention but APP NIngbo does not know the US market, they send in expensive unqualified people from corp and agencies to figure out what - but the answers are within the US sales team - IF they can hire people who know paperboard

Advice to Senior ManagementI have been a part of APP going back to the late 1990's to 2013 either selling their product or working for them and they come to the US market not knowing and not listening, they will never capture more than 2 to 4% of the US market because you "must build for them to come" and not 7000 miles away

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Verify the product performance and quality

Eastern Regional Manager, USA (Former Employee) Philadelphia, PA (US)

ProsIf you can sell a product and can deal with overseas shipments then you could have great success, but make sure you have a salary plus incentive and not full commission.

ConsService is a key obstacle to your success. This means delivery, technical, quality and customer service are not in your control...

Advice to Senior ManagementCreate a better system of follow through with all service aspects to show customers you respect their business and want more in the future. The customer buying a commodity is buying a relationship that can only be handled by the local representative whose recommendations must be considered.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Relentless Volume Goals

    Regional Sales Manager (Former Employee)

ProsChallenging job for professional sales types. Good view of the world class production facilities in the paper industry. Perspecitve gained on the Asian approach to business through the eyes of a privately held family owned mega company.

ConsIndexes used to judge sales performance do not coincide with market realities. Products that are to be world class must pass criteria for all markets. In the US the federal standards are difficult for APP to meet since they will push the limits on qualifications regarding product acceptability under US law. If on commission you will not get paid until the customer pays his invoices no matter what the holdup may be. Therefore you will not get paid or any credit for booking sales no matter what the issues will be with customer credit, product quality, delivery service or market conditions.

Advice to Senior ManagementRecognize the markets you are in and behave more like the domestic competitors if you expect to succeed.
