    Pros

Great benefits, traninng and on-site gym

    Cons

Managment has lost culture. Depending on the department, a general observation is that Amgen does not promote internally.

I worked at Amgen as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

Salaries are top notch and the company is on cutting edge of Biotech companies.

    Cons

Position was a contract position and unfortunately the company was in the middle of hiring freeze at the time my contract ended.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider extending contract terms for the contract employees who the company knows it would like to hire on as a permanent worker during a hiring freeze so as to eliminate all the red tape regarding that candidate's availability to hire following the end of their original contracted term.

I have been working at Amgen full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Workplace is really beautiful, lots of meeting spaces outdoors. Culture of fitness and activity (cycling, walking, group sports). Competitive pay and benefits. Company's products change people's lives (feel good about where you work).

    Cons

I hear about the "glory days" of Amgen, where it seemed much more of a free spirited company, but since I've been here I've seen it get more and more stuffy and corporate. Excessive layers of management inhibit flexibility and innovation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You can still play savvy business without losing your sense of workplace enjoyment. Happy workers = better business!

I have been working at Amgen full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Company offers diverse working environment, it is set up with human quality of staff and values that are hard to match. Business wise the older products are acompanied with an impressive pipeline also in new therapeutic areas. Especially good development possibilities.

    Cons

The company is facing a change process that brings some disruption in the otherwise calm business flow, this should be over in several month. Work wise it is not a company that counts with fast decision making processes and need to improve in that.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

keep on having an open comunication with staff and improve slow processes and decision making
