I have been working at AmerisourceBergen part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

You receive incentive pay for how fast you work, so the faster you work the more money you receive. Start pay is decent, $11 per hr for night shift $10 for day shift. Easy job everything is pretty much in numeric and alphabetical order.

    Cons

Takes for ever for a full time position to be available

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you treat your employees right they will work hard for you.

I have been working at AmerisourceBergen as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Weekend hours, they payed what was promised in interview, there were some great co-workers, supervisor (s) really took training seriously but also made it fun.

    Cons

Long hours 12+ shifts, didn't know from week to week if any work would be there. Would have liked to have the opportunity to work more hours if available during the week.

I worked at AmerisourceBergen as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

The summer internship program is a great experience. You get to meet many executive members and network with other higher ups. The environment is very laid back and welcoming. The experience is very valuable and helps set you up for your future.

    Cons

There were times where there was not much to do rather than busy work. Also, getting used to SAP took some time at first.

I worked at AmerisourceBergen full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The bonuses were nice when they were given fairly

    Cons

Too much nepotism and favoritism. Also, professional development is non existent. Do not work here if you actually have a degree.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do not become a manager if you do not have management skills.

    Pros

Employees are great and with the huge Walgreens contract there is a lot of opportunity here!

    Cons

I was new to the SAP software so it took me a little while to get comfortable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management is fantastic! Communicates with all levels of employees all throughout the country so everyone knows what is going on around them.

I worked at AmerisourceBergen full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Pay is almost on par with industry standards. Benefits are average.

    Cons

Elitist Management structure. They have no clue, want no clue, anyone beneath Director level is considered peon level an unworthy to speak to or deal with. Management has no authority. Directors are what most companies consider managers. Managers more like Leads. Sycophants are the ones promoted, not those who make the company work. Career opportunities are not abundant in the Chicago area. They promote managers with NO experience in management at all. Buffalo Grove is filled to the brim with inexperience management and elitist upper management. Treat professionals like kindergarten children.

No vision for future product, competition is wiping the floors with us due to disassociated management and marketing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Become more human. interact. Stop by and actually SEE what it takes to run a company instead of listening to the greenies you hired to manage professionals. Stop locking yourself in offices and actually walk around and speak with people.

    Pros

This company pays the best for this type of work in this area.

    Cons

You will have to be buddy-buddy with mgmt. to move up.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at AmerisourceBergen full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

ABC is a large corporation with many resources for development and advancement. You can succeed but you have to work extra hard to be recognized for your efforts - that's the pitfall of working in a large organization. Benefits are excellent.

    Cons

No work life balance and pay is average for the market place. The focus is 1st in profit, 2nd on customer and 3rd on employee.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in IT systems that will enhance the employee and customer experience
