Room for growth, but no work/life balance.

Senior Financial Analyst (Current Employee)
Chesterbrook, PA (US)

I have been working at AmerisourceBergen full-time for less than a year

ProsGood pay and benefits. Located in a nice area...for now.

ConsManagement is too concerned with face time and not about actual work. Not enough to do. Will be moving the headquarters soon closer to Philly or NJ.

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus more on the quality and quantity of work and less on how many hours are put in by people. People respect companies that value work/life balance.

ProsGreat benefits, formal training programs, opportunity for rewarding interactions with doctors and patients

ConsPresence of incompetent managers. Once past the relatively short learning curve, job can be hum drum and unchallenging.

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus on the leadership development of promising individuals and be advocates and mentors for those who report to you.

I have been working at AmerisourceBergen full-time for more than a year

ProsMidlevel IT & Developers great to work with

Advice to Senior ManagementTake a hard look inside at mgmt nepotism, degrading mgmt comments and how about doing a morale survey !

Good learning experience, would not go back.

Accounting Inern (Current Employee)
Chesterbrook, PA (US)

I have been working at AmerisourceBergen as an intern for less than a year

ProsWork environment was very laid back
not a lot of hard deadlines
flexible with time off (you don't have to put in extra hours later to make up for it)

Conspay is mediocre at best
basically in a cubicle all day
they are real penny pinchers (understandable based on their market but still...)

Leadership Needs Overhaul

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
Frisco, TX (US)

I worked at AmerisourceBergen full-time for more than 3 years

ProsGood benefits and decent salary.

ConsLeadership in business units is weak. Poor corporate communication. Lack of techniques and practices to motivate and retain workers. Leadership does not motivate; instead, a culture of "scolding" prevails.

Advice to Senior ManagementFind a clear strategy for retaining talent. Provide leadership training to management. Sharpen operational processes to stay competitive and to exceed customer expectations. Have clear strategy for remaining competitive; at this rate, the specialty pharmacy arm of the specialty group will not succeed.
