Former Employee – worked at AmerisourceBergen full-time for more than 7 years

ProsVery powerful company. Worked there for a few years. Benefits are good.

ConsVery hostile environment. HR puts complaints under the rug. Management gets away with a lot of favoritism, harassment, humiliation, power-trips and affairs. There is a lot of racism, only white people are hired as management and minorities are treated unfair in the office.

Advice to Senior ManagementMy advise to the CEO is there is a lot of things going on wrong. Make an anonymous survey. Send undercover employees. Review complaint files, if they haven't already been destroyed. Another suggestion is to put hidden cameras to see this in real time.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at AmerisourceBergen for more than 10 years

ProsEmployee Benefits package is pretty decent.

ConsMajor changes in upper management. The new team is cleaning house by eliminating positions, adding more responsibility to each person and they are bringing in their own hotshot mgmnt colleagues who don't know much about our business model. I've been with the company over 15 years and it has become unrecognizable to me.

Advice to Senior ManagementEmployee input is no longer needed or wanted. What management says goes...period! The VP's are too blind to see that our customers and clients are not happy with all of their changes.

Sugar Land, TX (US)

Former Employee – worked at AmerisourceBergen full-time for more than 8 years

ProsGood benefits, controlled climate. location

ConsI am sure this is the case at most large companies, but there was rampant favoritism. Last minute notification of manditory overtime. Problems brought to management usually not rectified. No merit raises. No opportunities to advance. Low pay.

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat all associates equally. I am not against overtime, but better planning, better management (ie receive product before stocking etc.) would eleviate this problem.

Houston, TX (US)

Former Employee – worked at AmerisourceBergen full-time for more than 7 years

ProsGreat benefits and a sufficient amount of vacation hours. They feed you and sometimes there are rewards... sometimes. They are truly trying to understand their employees with surveys. They are trying to make the job a more stable and family, fun oriented place.

ConsManagement doesn't understand how to balance personal and work life. You work long hours and low pay. Somethings aren't kept confidential.

Philadelphia, PA (US)

Former Employee – worked at AmerisourceBergen

ProsABC plays a critical role in maintaining the lowest possible healthcare costs by distributing pharmaceuticals and related products in the most efficient manner possible. The people are incredibly dedicated to this mission.

ConsA new CEO is bringing in the same team that resulted in Bergen being sold to Amerisource back in 2001 at a time when Bergen was much larger. An aggressive international expansion plan will put the core distribution businesses at risk, resulting in lower than anticipated revenues.

Advice to Senior ManagementStick to your knitting.

Former Employee – worked at AmerisourceBergen full-time for more than 7 years

ProsHundreds of locations. Awesome and varied benefits. Good pay. Great connections. Many opportunities. Valuable stock.

ConsStill experiencing merger/legacy issues from about 10 years ago. Very large company that can be stifling for some with it's strict approach to many issues. Management style can be uptight.

Advice to Senior ManagementAllow for more work flexibility options.
