In hindsight... horrible!

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Amdocs full-time for more than 5 years

ProsStill some of the most talented people I've ever worked with.

ConsI have been able to overcome the years of brainwashing. The worst part involved the infamous lack of work/life balance. Many reviews revolved around the horrendous career paths, but when just about everyone is working 80 hour weeks, it's difficult to differentiate yourself unless you have an Israeli last name, which still does not guarantee a promotion. Also mentioned is the stagnant technology, which will hinder your chances of finding a position outside of the telco space.

Advice to Senior ManagementUpper management would not deem this site worthy to even acknowledge. To my former coworkers, I urge you to get out and really look for a company you won't be a slave to. To those considering accepting job offers, think twice unless you're desperate.

Amdocs Widow

Consultant (Former Employee)

I worked at Amdocs full-time for more than 8 years

ProsThey hire highly qualified candidates.

ConsThey do not reward based on merit. Those of us whose spouses work for Amdocs are known as "Amdocs Widows" for a reason. There is absolutely no concern for work/family balance.

Advice to Senior ManagementWhen you hire an employee, you are also involving the family. Stop hoarding the employees' time and energy and causing their families to deteriorate as a result.

Good company with good benefits

Senior Subject Matter Expert (Current Employee)
Guaynabo, PR (US)

I have been working at Amdocs full-time for more than 3 years

ProsAmdocs is a good company that gives to your employees very good conditions of work.
They have good training materials and big knowledge database.
Also, as it's a big company, you have an open channel to speak with other coworkers from other countries.

ConsYou basically have no career opportunities. You just need to work 3~5 years to get promoted.
As you grow in the company you do not receive money for extra worked hours. They make it clear on your contract.

Advice to Senior ManagementMaybe create a new career opportunity program.

Dismal place to work. Only work for them if there are no other options.

Development Manager (Former Employee)
Charlotte, NC (US)

I worked at Amdocs full-time for more than 10 years

ProsBenefits: on par with most corporations. Healthcare is reasonably priced and plan selection is good.

Cons1. Very poor HR policies. Amdocs has a policy that there must be poor ratings given to some percentage of the employee base deserved or not.
2. When Amdocs bought the company I was working for the first thing they did was give senior management stay bonuses. Then everyone on the management team was demoted one level down.
3. The first thing Amdocs said after the acquisition was 'These people make too much money can't wait till we can take care of that'.

That's how extreme capitalism tastes

Java Programmer (Former Employee)
Haifa (Israel)

I worked at Amdocs full-time for more than a year

ProsYoung and dynamic environment
When economy not in it's worst, the easiest to get in as the first job

ConsYoung and dynamice environment actually means that every grown up around either promoted or bailed, and dynamic means they will never stop to get the most of your back.

I have been working at Amdocs full-time for more than 3 years

This is a great company if you are self motivated

Senior Consultant (Current Employee)
Atlanta, GA (US)

I have been working at Amdocs full-time for more than 10 years

ProsThere are plenty of pros. The compensation and benefits are some of the best in the business. There are numerous tools you can use to gain knowledge and increase you skills set.

ConsThe company is always pushing faster development cycles. There is a culture of work longer and smarter. If you don't push back you get trampled by the work load.

Advice to Senior ManagementTry hiring some managers from the locale of the work. I understand that the company is Israeli but you have to give the employees some hope that they have a chance to advance.

Software Engineer

Software Engineer (Current Employee)
San Jose, CA (US)

I have been working at Amdocs full-time for more than 5 years

ProsWork in one of offices in US. It is relatively stable recently due to the small size of the office.

ConsDue to the small size of the office, we don't have enough people and it is hard to complete the whole project by this office.

Advice to Senior ManagementMake more investment to the office, such as hiring more engineers. Do more interesting projects here.
