    Pros

Good training is provided by the company before job starts. Company offers great perks for the best producers, such as yearly paid trips to great vacation destinations. The company also provides ongoing training and support of its staff on a regular basis.

    Cons

No regular salary or benefits is provided, all compensation is percentage of sales produced. There seems to be a lot of new producers generated by the company that cover the same small companies for business, which makes it difficult to get any traction early.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Longer support by an experienced producer initially might be beneficial to reduce constant turnover of sales staff.

I have been working at Aflac full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The training in house was really good.

    Cons

The up line w in the field did not care to actually train. He was more concerned with his bottom line.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure the guys that you are promoting are fit to be in that position. Don't just assume that excellent sales people are supervisor material.

I worked at Aflac as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

None they don't exist for Independent Sales Reps

    Cons

So unorganized one doesn't what to do. You can ask for help and it will never come your way. They promise training and it never happens. So many Reps that you end up making people mad as everyone hits the same businesses over and over again. Was a complete waste of time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work with your new sales reps and get them up to speed on product instead of telling them to just go make appointments and we will sell it for you. You know when you go into a business they want to know now what it is not can I come back with a MANAGER to make the sales pitch.

I worked at Aflac full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

No chance of being laid off, flexible hours. Commission paid soon after closing a sale. Other agents in office were good people.

    Cons

Calling on prospects that have received 20 calls that month from 20 different Aflac people. People hang up on you without understanding the value of offering the benefits to their employees because they're tired of the phones calls from agents. Hard to have prospects keep appointments, show up to scheduled appointment and person is not available.

I worked at Aflac as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

Aflac is a great company that truly cares about the people they serve.

Lots of opportunity for growth and good income (if you know the business)

business expenses are tax write offs

    Really fun company convention/awards ceremonies/trips

    Cons

    -Horrible training
-1099 independent agents for salespeople so no benefits whatsoever
-The coordinator in training program (CIT) is a joke of a leadership development program
-The technology is outdated by at least 20 years
-Forced to pay for a 2,000 dollar laptop that has the software loaded to write business which is a huge scam its 2014!!! Get a damn app or a software program that can (obviously) be loaded on any computer that is already owned
-Huge disconnect in management styles between coordinators and territories
-No CRM or lead generation database
-No way to tell what accounts are already under another agent other than to embarrass yourself by calling on them
-No starting base to get new agents up and running
    -Huge turnover

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire some people that know how to develop talent. Create a REAL leadership development program that includes some kind of pay to keep your young talent. Partner with some tech companies that can bring your outdated infrastructure up to speed with modern standards. TRAINING FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! There is more than "fake it till you make it" in insurance. There needs to be a real paid training program to not only learn how to sell but to understand the complex insurance environment that exists today with the Obamacare disaster.
