I worked at AECOM as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Great work environment, the people were very friendly and loved my job, but had to leave for family reasons. Otherwise good pay, building had lots of natural light and space, and great coworkers.

    Cons

Former coworkers got laid off without warning apparently, my position was a term only but would have stayed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Always keep people in the loop especially for the sake of those with a family to support. Its tough to find jobs now and hard to support a family.

I have been working at AECOM full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Ability to work on a variety of large scale projects with decent benefits. Working for a large company has it's benefits (it looks good on paper).

    Cons

No culture with very little employee appreciation. Salary is not competitive at all with absolutely no training or overtime pay without being approved by the god's above.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in keeping your employees happy and you won't need to put so much emphasis on retention.

I worked at AECOM full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

There are some good staff but they tend to stay away from the political and management. Majority of the good staff have already left or are considering leaving.

    Cons

Poor management and unethical practices. The management is poor and all they care is the bottom line profit. Most of the clients have lost the trust because of false promises. No focus on employee training or growth. Layoffs are frequent and random.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest and retain your top talent.

    Pros

AECOM is a global company geared towards excellence in all aspects of project delivery and building up skill set of its employees.

    Cons

Since it is a publically trading company, its long term growth objectives are hampered in a try to achieve quarterly financial targets to keep its share value at certain threshold.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should keep up the good work they are doing.

I worked at AECOM full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Some good technical folks exist and assist you if you are willing to reach outside your geography.

    Cons

Cheap labor and expectation of working more than 60 hrs a week. Senior management under price the proposals to win jobs and then pressure junior staff to complete the work. No focus on client services or employee growth. All they care is the bottom line. Doesn't matter how employees get there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create competitive environment and invest in your best employees. Innovation should be your strength and not low prices for winning jobs.

    Pros

? Free Coffee. Met some good people.

    Cons

    - Unethical management, abusive project managers.Complaints to HR about serious incidents of staff abuse and intimidation were not taken seriously. Standing up for fearful fellow employees was met with an extremely bad performance review, retaliation for the formal complaint.
    - Highest turnover of employees in engineering. So many good people leave.
    - Poor IT and engineering systems management.
    - Cheap, cheap cheap! Cheapest company - period.
    - Completely disorganized workflows and responsibilities.
    - Stress to meet deadlines with lack of resources or time because jobs are 'bought' by underbidding competition.
    - Quality issues as work is rushed out to ensure the next payment of fees.
