    Great place to work.

Test Design Engineer (Former Employee) Huntsville, AL (US)

ProsGreat products. Facilities are top notch. Most people get their own office. On-site gym and cafeteria. They provide plenty of class lectures through-out the year from weight loss to skill training.

ConsYearly increases were low which caused a high turn over rate in my department. However, this was during the economy crisis in 2008-2010.

Great people, not a lot of advancement opportunities

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Huntsville, AL (US)

ProsFor the most part the people are great. Willing to help and knowledgeable. There is a good work/live balance and good benefits.

ConsLack of communication from upper management and lack of upward mobility. The management is so flat in some instances that promotion is next to impossible.

Advice to Senior ManagementTalk to your people and don't make it so difficult and uncomfortable when they have to talk with you.

Adtran is still a great place to work

Test Engineer (Current Employee) Huntsville, AL (US)

ProsThe products are awesome and the campus is first rate. Good people in a good market. Although the environment is still good, it used to be much, much better.

Conscompany tends to run lean, which is a pro and a con. Often short handed but being over worked is more secure than being under worked and fearing a pink slip...

Advice to Senior ManagementToo much focus on business expenses rather than Engineering results the past several years has changed the atmosphere drastically and reduced individual productivity and/or creativity.

    A good place to work

    IT Analyst (Current Employee)

ProsDuring economic downturns they try hard not to lay off their full time workers. The open campus is nice without a lot of restrictions. Most manager are willing to work with employees to allow some flexibility between job and personal life.

ConsThey aren't the best at promoting from within the ranks. Most employees do not get bonuses.

    Stable company and great people

Software Engineer (Former Employee) Huntsville, AL (US)

ProsGood people, decent values, freedom to work without micromanaging, stable company

ConsLow pay, no room for advancement, low emphasis on up-to-date technology

Advice to Senior ManagementYou established an IT department because you needed it. But you've since left it adrift. The technology you use affects your IT employees and when you casually toss out good technology for cheap technology you force your best IT employees to leave in order to protect their own careers.
