Don't expect Tyson to be a great place to work based on the stock growth.

    Pros

Northwest Arkansas is a great area to live.

    Cons

The standards for employment, development and communication are too new too recommend this as a career company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The culture turn around championed by CEO Donnie Smith is not championed by his growing leadership team .The majority of Senior and middle managers are typically Arkansas born, Tyson experienced only and locally educated. Do not expect consistency in career path this decade .

    Interview Details

thorough process, but do not be fooled, the process is designed well, not the interview teams
this is a company that was 24 hours from bankrupt 6 years ago. Many of the midlevel managers are not developed anywhere except Tyson. Make sure you carefully interview them as they interview you.
Do not look for the sophistication or education or talent you might experience from other 40 Billion dollar companies. This company has grown through acquisition not genius of sales and marketing.

In addition to fresh meats, the company offers value-added processed and pre-cooked meats, and refrigerated and frozen prepared foods. Its chicken operations are vertically integrated -- the company hatches the eggs, supplies contract growers with the chicks and feed, and brings them back for processing when ready. Tyson processes 42 million chickens, 390,000 pigs, and 144,000 head... More
