Creating an inclusive workplace and leveraging the unique strengths of our diverse talent is critical to propelling the dynamic diversity of our businesses at Thomson Reuters
The diversity of our talents, ideas and experiences is our true strength at Thomson Reuters. That’s why we foster an inclusive workplace where all employees are valued and have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
To drive innovation and deliver competitive advantage, we embrace diversity of thought, style, experience, culture, race, color, gender, national origin, religion, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, age, marital status, citizen status, and veteran status.
Diversity and inclusion shape our culture at Thomson Reuters. It is part of who we are and how we do business around the globe, every day. We strengthen our culture of inclusion through a variety of strategic initiatives, including the following:
BUSINESS RESOURCE GROUPS
With local chapters around the globe, our Business Resource Groups create awareness and understanding of the diverse backgrounds and experiences represented throughout our business. These groups partner with the business to support professional development, assist with recruitment and retention, identify unique market opportunities and help drive business development.
Business Resource Groups include:
- Asian Affinity Network
- Black Employee Network
- Global Disability Employee Network
- Latino Employee Network
- Pride at Work (for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Employees & Friends)
- Veterans Network
- Women @ Thomson Reuters
DIVERSITY & INCLUSION COUNCILS
Our diversity and inclusion councils play a crucial role in aligning our global diversity and inclusion strategy with regional priorities. These councils also help ensure diversity and inclusion events are relevant, culturally appropriate and focused on the business needs of a particular region.
An inclusive workplace leverages the strengths of all of our employees and that is why we build these behaviors into everything we do. From new hire orientation to management and leadership training to an online portal accessible to all employees, we focus on developing global mindsets and creating an understanding of diversity and inclusion throughout our organization.
Our diversity and inclusion strategy is reviewed annually to ensure progress on objectives. Additionally we monitor results of our diversity and inclusion index which is part of our employee engagement survey; the number of managers trained on inclusive management behaviors; and key metrics around representation, hires and promotions.
WOMEN’S ADVISORY TASK FORCE
Chaired by our CEO, the Women’s Advisory Task Force is focused on increasing the number of women in leadership roles through targeted leadership development programs, career sponsorship opportunities and positioning Thomson Reuters as a premier company for women.
Sharpen your skills, grow your career, expand your world view. We believe your development is about more than what you learn in the classroom. It’s a daily process that involves learning by doing. It involves a mutual exchange of knowledge and experience between you and your colleagues. It’s about mentors and networks throughout the company and around the world. It’s about access to the knowledge you need, when you need it, so you can learn and grow.
We encourage you to learn as you go -- when you need it and want it, according to your individual requirements. Sometimes this may involve classroom training, and we also make tailored e-learning available when you need it. But it’s also about day-to-day projects, client challenges and interaction with your co-workers. So you can put what you learn into action, right here, right now.
With support from your manager and colleagues, it’s you who drives your career growth, building on your experience with the many resources available to you. We’ll provide feedback and career development advice to help you achieve your potential, but you decide the direction you want your career to take.
Opportunities for growth are available and encouraged at all levels -- from recent graduates to senior executives. Some are available across the company, whereas others are tailored to businesses, functions, teams and individuals. Just a few of our learning resources include:
- Leadership and management development programs
- Technical skills training
- Over 3,300 courses available on our e-learning system
- Language learning through Rosetta Stone
- Collaborative learning, using Web 2.0 technologies to share knowledge and solutions across boundaries

I have been working at Thomson Reuters as a contractor (more than a year)Pros
Solid work culture, easy-going atmosphere, good work-life balance. The office space is not quite open concept, but you can get most of the materials you need to do your work, inclusive of applicable software. With managers in global offices, it's nice to have a bit of independence and not to have someone staring over your shoulder.Cons
Global teams can make it difficult to connect with your supervisors and direct reports. Not enough emphasis on linear training which means you need to be quick on your feet and learn to roll with the punches (not always a bad thing).RecommendsNo opinion of CEO
