At Newell Rubbermaid, growth is not a catch-phrase or a one-time initiative. Growth is a mindset and it's at the heart of all we do. We are focused on both simplifying and enhancing the way we do business to accelerate our company into a faster growing, more global and more profitable Newell Rubbermaid. Our products touch people every day where they live, learn, work and play. They are there for your daily routine, your life milestones and everything in between. They’re there when you bring your baby home from the hospital for the very first time, tucked safely inside a Graco car seat. They’re there when your favorite team wins the World Cup – the stadium packed with fans, flanked by Rubbermaid Commercial Products on all sides. They’re there as you begin your kitchen renovation - walls torn down and new counters installed with Irwin Tools. Our products are everywhere you look.

I worked at Newell Rubbermaid full-time for more than 10 yearsPros
My co-workers were almost like family - we worked well together, as a team. The money is quite good.Cons
Regardless of what the upper echelon might say, advancement is very difficult. It is not so much what you know as who you know or who you kowtow to! You can try making suggestions but if they do not align completely with "management" your ideas do not get to far.Advice to ManagementAdvice
There is very little regard for work life balance - Management talks the talk but they do not walk the walk. They continually say that their "Human Resources" are their most valuable asset, but it's just words. The more people they lay-off (eliminate) the more work there is for those that are left behind. They really need to spend money on R & D - new ideas, new products - come up with items that your competitors don't already have. N-R used to be first-to-market company but they are quickly becoming a "me too" organization.Neutral OutlookNo opinion of CEO

I applied through an employee referral - interviewed at Newell Rubbermaid in September 2014.Interview Details
It was a really good process up until the interviews were over. The recruiter was friendly and communicative, and after the phone screen, she scheduled in-person interviews, which I thought went pretty well. One of the interviewers had an all-day meeting, so I spoke with him a couple of days later. I thought everything was going fairly well and that I was a viable candidate. Despite the crazy commute it would have been, I was seriously considering the opportunity. Until I never heard back, even though I was submitted as a referral by an employee. I must say I was shocked, as most companies would have followed up to say they were exploring other candidates, the budget was cut, the process would take a bit longer, I was not a good fit... something, anything. But over 2 weeks with no word means it's not a place I'd ever consider working. It's a shame.Interview Questions
