Nestlé USA – Why Work For Us?

Nestlé is…

...the world's leading Nutrition, Health and Wellness company. Our mission of "Good Food, Good Life" is to provide consumers with the best tasting, most nutritious choices in a wide range of food and beverage categories and eating occasions, from morning to night.

For well over a century, our commitment to producing foods that uniquely fulfill people's needs has been the secret ingredient in everything we make. It's the right amount of heartiness in our STOUFFER'S® entrees, and it's what makes our NESTLÉ® Hot Cocoa Mix so satisfying on a cold winter day.

undefinedYour career growth with Nestlé USA.

As our company has continued to grow and expand nationally, we have transitioned to a flat and flexible organization. “Nestlé on the Move” is essentially how we define our organizational structure. It’s a dynamic structure that keeps the best of what a large company has to provide, while ensuring that we remain competitive.

This structure holds key advantages for employees. With fewer layers of authority, more responsibilities are delegated throughout all levels of the organization. We’re able to work more broadly through cross-functional teams and there are also more opportunities for movement throughout the company.

As a Nestlé employee, you’ll be expected to manage your own career development and take the ultimate responsibility for your own career path. Your performance is the number one factor in determining your career possibilities at Nestlé.

We also have a wide range of online resources that provide health and well-being information to consumers. Together with Hulu, Nestlé created the Health & Wellness Channel, an online destination for consumers interested in living healthy, active lifestyles.

Our plants and distribution centers in the U.S. work in partnership with Feeding America to bring good food to people in need. As a leadership partner, we have donated 154 million pounds of food through food drives and volunteer events across the country.

You’ll have the opportunity to impact wellness every day at Nestlé USA. You’ll also enjoy opportunities to volunteer your time and advance our mission of Good Food, Good Life in our local communities.

The continuous development of our people plays a fundamental role in our vision to become the very best nutrition, health & wellness company in the world. We regard training as a major and important investment in the future of the company.

For us, training is more than just a transfer of know-how and skill development. It is instrumental in spreading the Nestlé culture and fostering our Corporate Principles and Values. Some of the most valuable career development opportunities happen on the job. We strive to provide our employees with hands-on experience they can use throughout their careers. undefinedThe rewards are very real.

At Nestlé USA, taking care of business starts with taking care of our people. We offer a comprehensive program that allows you to tailor your benefits to meet the health, wellness, educational and financial needs of you and your family. We call this program “Real Rewards.” It’s the way we invest in you by offering:

  • Competitive pay
  • High-quality health care and benefit programs
  • Financial assistance in the event of illness, disability or death
  • Financial security assistance for retirement
  • Opportunities for learning and development
  • Work/Life benefits

Choose the best plans for your life.

With our Health and Wellness options, you have the flexibility to choose the healthcare plans that are right for you and your family. We offer a range of options through our benefits program, NesCARE. The plans include preventive care, prescription drug benefits and coverage for certain alternative
medicine services.

In addition to these traditional benefits, the company also provides access to a comprehensive health and wellness initiative called HealthWorks. This program offers no cost resources and tools to help you and your family members make informed decisions about health care and lifestyle support, such as losing weight or quitting tobacco products.

Save money for life after Nestlé.

Our flexible spending accounts allow you to save on taxes for healthcare and dependent daycare expenses. We also offer an employer-matching 401(k) Savings Plan and a Pension Plan, which provides an additional benefit at retirement.

The Nestlé 401(k) Savings Plan allows you to save on a tax-deferred basis through convenient payroll deductions. To help you save for retirement, Nestlé USA will contribute $1.00 for each $1.00 you contribute up to 3% of your eligible pay, plus $0.50 for each additional $1.00 you contribute up to the next 2% of your eligible pay, for a maximum employer matching contribution of 4% of your eligible pay. You will become 100% vested in your employer matching contributions after completing three years of service or upon reaching age 65 while employed at Nestlé or any of its Affiliates, whichever is earlier. What’s more, the plan offers investment options for every type of investor.

Helping families is a priority at Nestlé USA.

Nestlé strives to make life better for families around the world, and that begins with the families of our valued employees. Our Real Rewards include a variety of programs such as adoption assistance and education support.

We provide financial assistance to families who adopt, including help for special needs adoptions. This benefit has led to the Dave Thomas Foundation naming Nestlé USA to the list of America’s top 100 adoption-friendly employers for consecutive years.

Nestlé is also proud to support ongoing education. The Nestlé Scholarship Foundation sponsors a scholarship program to financially assist children of employees in the pursuit of higher education. Recipients are selected based on academic record, demonstrated leadership skills and participation in school and community activities.

Bringing Good Life to the world around us.

The people of Nestlé are committed to making life better for people everywhere. Specifically, our focus is on promoting health and wellness, fostering youth education, developing our communities and encouraging employee volunteerism. These are our four pillars of Community Affairs programs
at Nestlé USA.

Health & Wellness

undefinedOur Health & Wellness programs improve the nutrition, health and wellness of the general public and employees alike. For example, our Healthy Steps for Healthy Livesprogram supports K-3 classrooms with materials that teach kids to make good decisions when it comes to food and exercise. We have also partnered with Produce for Better Health Foundation to sponsor information sheets featuring Nestlé brands on plates that are half fruits and vegetables, in an effort to show consumers how Nestlé products can be part of a delicious and nutritious meal. Nestlé USA has also donated over 100 million pounds of food and beverages to Feeding America.

undefinedYouth Education

We believe that educating the youngest generation is the key to creating a healthy future for all. Our Youth Education programs focus on nutrition education and enhancing academic skills children need to live healthy, productive lives. Through our Nestlé Adopt-a-School program, we have adopted 53 schools across the country. Nestlé employees are encouraged to volunteer at these schools to promote literacy and health and wellness education. And since 1992, we have provided more than one million students with over four million books.

Community Development

undefinedOur Community Development programs involve the company and its employees in making our communities better places to live and work. Each year, as part of our Community Care Campaign, Nestlé employees voluntarily provide monetary contributions to United Way and other non-profit organizations of their choice. Thanks to this campaign, Nestlé USA and its employees have been able to contribute over $15 million to community organizations in the last 10 years.

Our Nestlé Very Best in Youth program allows employees to nominate and honor young people for their good work, grades, and commitment to community. What’s more, Nestlé USA has contributed $1 million to organizations supported by this program.

Employee Volunteerism

undefinedOur Employee Volunteerism opportunities enable employees to devote time outside of work to promote health and wellness, youth education and community development. For example, during the holiday season, many of our employees and their families come together to serve holiday meals to the homeless. And when it comes to youth outreach, Nestlé USA volunteers impact more than 35,000 students each year. Our Nestlé National Day of Volunteering unites Nestlé USA employees across the country in a special day dedicated to bringing Good Food, Good Life to the communities where we work and live.

undefinedOur differences make us stronger.

At Nestlé USA, our success is defined by our people – people who bring unique experiences, perspectives and insights to our business. As we continue to grow as an organization, we seek to build an open, inclusive environment where every voice is heard and every contribution is valued.

We believe that creating and maintaining a diverse workforce is a business imperative. Our goal is to attract and retain talented people that reflect the diversity of our consumers, and who can create products that are relevant to our consumers. This is not only good for our business, it’s also good for the communities in which we work and live. To that end, Nestlé USA actively promotes an atmosphere where differences are not only appreciated – they are valued.

Nestlé is proud to participate in MBA recruiting opportunities such as the Consortium for Graduate Study in Management Orientation Program (CGSM  OP) and Nestlé’s own Leadership Symposium for Diverse Leaders of Tomorrow. In the past few years, we’ve worked to improve our reach to diverse candidates, and as a result, in 2011, our diversity hires had risen to 33% of total Nestlé USA hires.

undefinedNestlé USA is also committed to fostering a growing number of affinity groups, offering social and networking outlets, ongoing career training and the opportunity to actively participate in community outreach. Groups such as the Nestlé Black Employees Association (NBEA), the Nestlé Hispanic Employees Association (NHEA), and the Nestlé Women’s Network (NWN), enable employees to share experiences, knowledge, and best practices, in an atmosphere of support and mentorship. What’s more, we actively meet with diverse employees to discuss ways we can make Nestlé USA an even better place to work

The bottom line? At Nestlé USA, we recognize that people from diverse backgrounds are our most important asset and a key source of our competitive advantage. You’re encouraged to bring your unique talents and voice to our team.
