A Global Market Leader

The NASDAQ OMX Group owns and operates 26 markets, 3 clearing houses, and 5 central securities depositories, spanning six continents--making us the world’s largest exchange company. Eighteen of our 24 markets trade equities. The other six trade options, derivatives, fixed income, and commodities. Eighty exchanges in 50 countries trust our trading technology to power their markets, driving growth in emerging and developed economies.

NASDAQ OMX is also dedicated to designing powerful, relevant index and benchmark families that are in sync with the continually changing market environment. Utilizing the expanded coverage of our global footprint, NASDAQ OMX has nearly 2,000 diverse indexes that provide coverage across asset classes, countries and sectors. Not only do our indexes provide comprehensive insight into the global markets, but our unparalleled process, added value and competitive pricing set us apart from other indexers. I worked at NASDAQ OMX Group full-time (more than an year)

    None I can think of.

    Old technology used.
    Old methods of doing business.
CEO has major impact on all areas and fires high value, high paid staff to reduce costs and increase that all important margin.
Upper Management have no clue on the business area I worked under.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Leave and let someone more able take over.
Don't fire high value staff, allow them to grow and help the business move forward.

I applied online – interviewed at NASDAQ OMX Group in October 2014.

    Interview Details

I approached the interview excited about the opportunity and left very disappointed. The hiring manager was very smug and asked irrelevant questions. He was evasive to my questions about what deliverables the department creates. I was told to bring my portfolio to the interview. When I tried to show him my work, he said he already saw enough of my work online. He informed me of his plans to let some current designers go just because they've worked there for awhile and he wants fresh talent. This place clearly doesn't value their people. I left confident that this isn't a good place to work.
