OUR HERITAGE

Over the years, First Republic’s focus on exceptional, relationship-based service and consistent leadership has led to continuous growth and profitability.

INVESTOR INFORMATION

Publicly traded under the NYSE stock symbol "FRC," First Republic is a component of the S&P Total Market Index, the Wilshire 5000 Total Market IndexSM, the Russell 1000®, Russell 3000® and Russell Global indices, and six Dow Jones indices. Our Approach

Our business model at First Republic is distinctly different from most other companies. While we certainly want to grow, and make a profit, we also realize that the best way to do that is through hard work and exceptional client service. Because of this operating philosophy, we are driven by a core set of values that define what we must do every day to best serve our clients.

Do the Right Thing

We strive to do things right at First Republic. We also recognize that we're a business of humans; mistakes will happen. Therefore, our mandate is to do the right thing: act with integrity, own your actions, correct mistakes, learn from experience.

Provide Extraordinary Service

We always aim to exceed expectations and serve our clients in unexpected ways. We'll take on only what we can do right. Our business may be about wealth management and banking, but our success is all about service—exceptional customer service.

Respect the Team

Everyone at First Republic makes a difference and everyone at First Republic deserves to feel that his or her contribution is valued. We place high value on collaboration because we know that the power of many is greater than the power of one.

Take Responsibility

At First Republic, it's not enough to do our own jobs well. Making sure our clients are satisfied is everyone's job. So if something needs fixing, we step up to the plate, "own" the problem and make things right.

Think Positively

We operate in an environment of trust and encourage openness and flexibility. We hire positive people who act positively. Our goal is to "manage toward yes."

Move Forward, Move Fast

There are two types of organizations—organizations that spend time checking and organizations that spend time doing. We're doers. We value action and decisiveness and recognize that the best opportunities come to those that act quickly.

Grow

We've evolved greatly since our inception, expanding ourselves and our business purpose. At First Republic, we embrace change and every person has the opportunity to grow and contribute. We want our people to soar.

Have Fun

We know that if everyone enjoys their work they'll do a better job—and our clients will feel the difference. It's really that simple.

I have been working at First Republic (CA) full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The people. I am fortunate to work with some truly amazing people who are incredibly smart and experienced and who have high standards for themselves, work hard, enjoy what they do and know how to have fun. I get to work with people who have a passion for service, enjoy doing the right thing and have a desire to help others.

The culture. There is a shared belief in the importance in and value of collaboration, the team, responsibility, trust, empowerment and accountability.

The pace. One of our values is quite literally reflective of how we operate: move fast, move forward. This creates a work day filled with a lot of activity and I enjoy being busy, having a lot to do and working in a fast paced environment.

    Cons

If you are looking for a job or a company that is focused on a 9 to 5 work day, this is not the place for you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to maintain an ‘open-door’ policy.
Further the efforts to visit other offices outside of SF.
Promote the importance of the continued maintenance of the unique and collaborative service culture that is First Republic.

    Preferred Banker Interview

    Application Details

I applied through an employee referral - interviewed at First Republic (CA).

    Interview Details

In total, I interviewed with 25 people, all from different branches of First Republic Bank. They all seemed to be disinterested in spending 5 minutes of their time with me. According to my interviewers, it is First Republic custom for a potential employee to meet with almost all of the preferred bankers. After completing these 25 different interviews, First Republic had me fill out a one page financial proposal. In this proposal I was to come up with a new idea and back it with a financial plan. This was one of the longest interviewing processes I have ever been through.

    Interview Questions
    • Personally, I was not asked any technical questions. However, I was asked mainly situational questions. Many of the questions focused on how I would treat a client if x, y, and z, were to happen. First Republic takes these questions into serious consideration because it is the Preferred Banker's main job to treat the client with the utmost respect.   Answer Question
