    As a global company we are committed to supporting the life-changing work of organizations around the world like St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Free the Children through direct grants, in-kind donations, and giving campaigns.
  • Matching Gift Program
    Employee donations to eligible non-profit organizations are matched 1:1 up to $4,000 USD each year. In addition, employees that volunteer their time can have $15 USD per hour donated to a non-profit organization (up to $1,000 USD of their matching gifts benefit).

Describe your most memorable Expedia moment.
I was on the flights team and at the end of the summer we had a party to celebrate the changes on the air team, and I was able to see the CEO dancing around with all the employees!

What's a typical day at Expedia like for you?
My team normally gets into the office around 9:30 a.m. During the mornings it's pretty quiet, and everyone is focused on work. Almost every day a group of the team will grab a bite to eat somewhere in downtown Bellevue. The afternoon is the best part – everyone is refueled and there are lots of conversations going on, mostly about work but we are not perfect and do get off topic. People always have good stories to tell, and of course there are the nerd gun fights to give our team a little break.

What's the best part about working here?
The people. The work. The results. The parties. 

What are three words you'd use to describe working here?
Exhilarating. Rewarding. Worth it.

Why did you choose to work at Expedia?
The people. Everyone that I talked to had nothing bad to say about the company, and always had a smile while working. Everyone works hard, but Expedia knows how to have a good time and lets the employees know when they have done great job.

I chose Expedia because of its dynamic work environment, the competitive industry it leads, the many international opportunities it provides, and the smart and friendly people I get to work with.

Describe your most memorable Expedia moment.
When I was asked to make a presentation to several senior executives (including the CEO of my group) at the end of my summer Product Manager MBA internship at Expedia. 

Tell us about your most exotic destination.
Capri, Italy. It has the bluest water, the most sheer cliffs, the most winding roads, and the most spectacular villas I've ever seen. 

What's the best part about working here?
The responsibility you're given is significant - whether as a full-time or an intern. Your efforts and decisions have a real impact on the business.

What do you do for fun?
Bike, hike, yoga; chill out with family and friends.

    Pros

    While I'm sure it differs from team to team, the one I'm involved with is wonderful! Everyone is really there to help each other out, but also push each other to do the best work possible. The atmosphere is positive, energetic and innovative.

    Cons

    There is constant change in the travel industry, which means constant change trying to keep up with new processes, rules, etc. This can be a little overwhelming for a new-hire, but you get used to going with the flow as you become more familiar with your position and the tools you work with.

    The process took 5 weeksinterviewed at Expedia.

    Interview

    Possibly the worst show of recruiting I've ever seen. Process took just over a month, with 10+ day gaps between my emails and the recruiter's replies.

    Started off with a standard non-technical interview with HR, it went well. The woman was nice. I was then handed off to a recruiter in Bellevue. On a Friday, they asked for my availability for the following week, for a technical interview. I promptly replied with many available times. A full week later, I get a reply apologizing for the delay, asking for more available times. Then this series of events repeats itself. You get the picture. By the time it was all said and done, they had filled the position. What a joke, and a waste of my time.

    From the initial interview, it sounds like Expedia pays well and has a few nice perks. Otherwise, though, I have no idea how they expect to hire top talent when they treat their candidates this way.
