Former Employee - Deputy Director in London, England (UK)

I worked at Department of Health UK full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

You are at the centre of government and will see the inner most workings of government. The policy issues are general quit interesting and you will be working around some of the most brilliant minds. The issues are real, facing people in the street and even in the daily news.

    Cons

There are a number of laggards that are there just putting in time. It is difficult to build optimistic and positive teams that really enjoy their work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Challenge the lower performers and find work for them elsewhere. Reward the top performers.

    Application Details

I applied online. The process took a day - interviewed at Department of Health UK in May 2011.

    Interview Details

The interview was hold in Bureau of Health Promotion conference rooms. First of all, there is a small scale of knowledge exam. All of the questions are free response questions. The most numinous one is related to health communication. Second, here comes the interview part, it was hold in a briefing room, and three senior managers are seated in a row. they will ask you a couple of questions about the popular issues about health news.
