    Product Compliance Director

    California

    Responsible for developing and implementing robust compliance strategies that proactively address regulatory requirements while identifying potential compliance issues. This position will ensure our products meet all applicable legal, safety, and quality standards.

    The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in creating, monitoring, and enhancing policies, procedures, and controls to evaluate the effectiveness of a compliance program. The candidate would have experience building risk assessments and presenting control monitoring and testing results to management.

    Responsibilities:

    • Work directly with management and outside legal counsel to help drive compliance across existing and future products, evaluate the regulatory environment, and implement changes across products.
    • Provide compliance oversight on all aspects of the business, including product development, customer success, operations, and risk management, focusing on new offerings
    • Aid in developing business operations policies/procedures and ensuring implementation of compliance processes with the operations team, as well as other functional and business units
    • Contribute to third-party, government, and internal audits and inquiries.
    • Stay current with the latest in biometrics and privacy requirements, compliance, and trends across domestic and international markets
    • Implement and manage compliance programs to evaluate suppliers, manufacturers, and vendors for compliance with hardware product safety and quality standards (e.g., product labeling compliance, etc.)
    • Lead efforts to identify, interpret, and assess global product compliance regulations, including but not limited to safety, quality, labeling, chemical restrictions, restricted substances, and environmental regulations for hardware products.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create and review product and marketing materials to highlight company and product compliance with regulations (e.g., white papers, etc.) as a value proposition.
    • Promptly complete customer and vendor questionnaires regarding the company’s policies, including but not limited to biometric security, privacy policies, cloud security, SOC 2, etc. Create a framework for documentation that can be shared with external stakeholders.
    • Stay current on Federal and State pending legislation and requirements relative to Money Transmitter Licensing (MTL).
    • Help drive the mindset that Compliance is a strategic advantage, enabling growth and customer delight.

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
    • 3-5 years professional compliance experience
    • 5-8+ years experience in banking, payroll, money transmission, or other institutional compliance.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • ACAMs and/or Compliance certification preferred.
    • Strong understanding of the compliance and regulatory frameworks applicable to payroll institutions, emphasizing biometric privacy, PPI regulations, and FFIEC guidelines.
    • Strong understanding and knowledge of Federal and State “Money Transmitter Licensing" (MTL) requirements and statutory frameworks.
    • Creative thinker, able to support innovation while managing risk.
    • Good communication, interpersonal, and writing skills.
    • Organized with strong attention to detail
    • Ability to effectively communicate compliance issues to management and effectively frame issues to drive strategic thinking and execution.
    • Strong understanding of modern information security programs such as ISO, SOC 2, HIPPA, and PCI.
