    Duties and Responsibilities

As a DevOps Engineer at Payfare, you will be joining a diverse team of mixed background technologists. Our mandate as a team is to provide flexible and stable platform solutions that empower our feature development teams to create the highest quality services for our customers. Day to day, we spend our time developing, testing, and deploying reliability and resiliency features on our Kubernetes-based architecture, adding new functionality, providing production-level support, maintaining and improving existing hardware and software configurations, and removing friction points in system level processes. At larger scales, we make significant upgrades to the capabilities of what Payfare can achieve as an emerging leader in the payments industry.

Specifically, this role requires an advanced level of knowledge in architecting AWS and Kubernetes. You will be leading the expansion of Payfare’s system across the globe, in multi-regional configuration. This role also requires strong communication skills, and a proactive mindset, such that the needs of the organization as a whole are met. From time to time, there will be a need to provide infrastructure support outside business hours.

Great benefits package and wellness stipend to spend how you please.

Current Employee in Toronto, ON, Ontario

Great perks like $200 wellness credit / year (on top of $500 health benefits plan) that can be used for anything wellness related; phone/internet allowance for everyone and topped up during pandemic. Pre-COVID, there was always a plethora of snacks, all-staff weekly lunches brought in, to keep everyone fueled up. Flexible work arrangements with many staff working abroad, especially during pandemic. Payfare is still in start-up mode with a younger staff base. Big box benefits that come with a bank/big financial institution are missing, like RRSP matching and long pat leave coverage. But share bonuses, recent IPO and potential long-term growth, makes up for this.
