Working in student affairs is extremely rewarding.

Current Employee - Program Coordinator  in  Salt Lake City, UT (US)
Current Employee - Program Coordinator in Salt Lake City, UT (US)

I have been working at University of Utah as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

You'll always be busy in student affairs, and the various aspects of something like student housing will keep you on your feet. As in many student affairs positions, the U doesn't pay a whole lot for the service you provide, but the experience is valuable.

    Cons

There are many policies to abide by because of the university setting. If you live on campus, there are even more rules. Things can get pretty hectic depending on the time of year and your involvement with students.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management does a pretty good job and employees mostly seem happy and satisfied. I would say a clearer communication of responsibilities and a run down of what the academic year entails is helpful.
