    Loss of individual action for at least 1-5 years
    Not a diplomacy!
    Must be the indian before you can be a chief
    Tasks often make no sense at your current experience level
    Loss of life and/limb
    Time away from family/friends
    Little food, shelter, water
    Working in environments where people hate you
    Some Americans can't stand you
    Hard life for your wife or future spouse
    Physically demanding
    Mentally demanding
    Danger of burning out early

    These are some of the things that I've noticed in the past five years I've spent with the Marines. I've met some of the greatest people of my life here and have made memories that I will take with me to my grave. You get the brightest lights and the darkest shadows in the Marine Corps.
