I worked at Teach for America full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Rather than writing a paragraph, here are a few bulleted points that encompass my thoughts on TFA:

In your day to day, you are more a teacher than a corps member.
    - Make of that what you will (and there are certainly pros and cons to each), but at the end of the day, I was a teacher who was responsible for my students who just happened to have some additional support and/or hoops to jump through.

    TFA is NOT for everyone.
    - I don't know what makes people think that every intelligent, highly motivated, semi-altruistic college graduate should be a TFA CM, but this is not for everyone. You will struggle, you will flounder, and you will fail. You will know low lows and won't know how to improve. However, this can be incredibly rewarding, and it should not be used as a stepping stone for going on to an impressive graduate program.

    Cons

Institute is not the same as a four year education program.
    - Though all teachers struggle during their first year in the classroom, my institute experience was NOTHING like what I experienced in the classroom.

    Feeling out of place.
    - I often felt like a misfit for questioning the TFA groupthink and for not drinking the Kool-Aid.

    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
