Former Employee - Finance Operations in Conyers, GA (US)

I worked at OCI full-time (less than a year)

The company is a subsidiary of a larger company, Black and Veatch. Black and Veatch is a great bigger company. The company prides itself in being a safe work environment. The company was a great place to work while I was there. I was laid off but I understood the business was not sufficient to support my salary. I did enjoy and use the benefit plan. The staff is very nice. The company worked a 9-80 schedule. Therefore, every other alternating Friday, the employees are off.

However, Overland Contracting/OCI is much smaller and there is a lot of gossiping and unprofessional activities that create disgruntled employees. Some employees are not happy with their work life balance. I did not have this issue.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would advise the managers of Overland Contracting to stop encouraging the buddy-buddy favoritism system, be professional, and allow their employees to flourish at their job tasks.
