I worked at Navistar full-time (more than 10 years)

Fantastic, very diversified work-environment. Great peer collaboration. Excellent opportunities for career growth. The company is very diversified and offers great benefits to employees.

Too focused on making changes that would take the enterprise a notch up but failing to implement and follow through with changes. Poor program management and project portfolio management. All IT department has been outsourced to reduce staff to a bare minimum in lieu of IT transformation. Too many valuable resources were let go that will take many years (or decades) to replace. Poor strategic management actions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It takes years to learn all school bus and truck manufacturing processes and business rules. Outsourced resources do not have this experience due to high turnover. Your effort to eliminate IT payroll caused the company to lose billions. Rehire former employees willing to go back.
Value your resources: acknowledge and nurture those who have been great contributors. Waste of intellectual property must be stopped.
IT TAKES MONEY TO MAKE MONEY! Invest in your valuable employees.
