Current Employee - Relationship Manager in Toronto, ON

I have been working at LinkedIn full-time (more than an year)

Fantastic employee benefits and culture. Fun work environment, fast pace and everyone appears to be happy and enthusiastic. Very open environment and management appears to be sincere and honest. Social industry is moving fast and LinkedIn appears to be leading the pack.

Sales Compensation plan is horrible and salaries are well below industry standard. Account assignments are a mess, not flexible, system generate and company appears to have many growing pains that are causing talented sales people to leave due to frustration in servicing clients and making money.

Culture also is similar to a fraternity and a popularity contest. Management is relying on the "perks" as a retention strategy but this will soon cause some significant employee churn. Lots of employee discussion about leaving around the water cooler...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

In order to keep and attract top sales talent, an effort to re-shape compensation plan is a must. An industry bench marking exercise around compensation and sharing the results with the sales organization would help create trust within the sales organization.
