    I have been working at Dovenmuehle Mortgage full-time (more than an year)


    Great place to gain experience in the financial/mortgage sector.
    Overall, co-workers are nice, down to earth, and pleasant to work with
    Great entry-level positions
    Can listen to music through headphones at desk while working, which can help employees be productive


    Employees are overworked and underpaid
    Micromanagement is all too common and accomplishes nothing in terms of increasing productivity
    Many miscommunications between departments (and even within departments)
    Not enough printers/copiers/scanners. People often crowd around one machine and have to wait too long
    Tech issues pop up too frequently that can falter productivity
    High turnover, meaning there are constantly new hires that need training, and fewer competent veterans who can train them
    Training seminars are often too vague and accomplish little to nothing in relating to one's specific job
    Little to no interaction with upper management (This reviewer has never seen most of them, even after 2 years of employment)
    Upper management seems unwilling to make changes despite having heard about these problems through complaints and numerous exit interviews
    Managers seem uninterested in employees' well being; unwilling to listen to employees' suggestions/complaints
    Dress code changes happen too often and with too short of notice
    Benefits are expensive and raises/promotions are rare; no annual raises to keep up with inflation/cost of living
    Favoritism and hypocrisy among managers (e.g. You're asked not to have casual conversations, but managers have them with each other at length)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Invest in your employees and show you care about them. Reward hard work with raises for your veterans. Then, more young and qualified candidates will be attracted to openings, and may even stick around longer.
    Also, practice what you preach. Lead by example, and employees will respect you a thousand times more.
    Additionally, interact more often with floor managers and employees. That way, you can better vocalize your goals and hear from the people who try to achieve them for you how said goals can be accomplished.
    Think carefully before holding numerous job fairs and then having a round of layoffs. DMI has been notorious for conducting frequent job fairs, then a few months later, laying off just as many people. A few months after the most recent layoffs took place, many departments are too short handed.
    Finally, take current and exiting employees' suggestions seriously. If you don't make the changes that are being requested frequently, turnover will continue to go up to an unacceptably high level. If it increases, that could lead to increased short-staffedness, incompetency, and lower productivity. Clients will take notice and take their business elsewhere, and the company could struggle to survive.
    In short, take care of your employees, and your employees will take care of you!
