Current Employee - Deal Administrator in Research Triangle Park, NC (US)

I have been working at Credit Suisse full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits are pretty solid, although they have been getting reduced. Starting out with 15 vacation days/year, with the ability to roll 10 days to next year is pretty great. $4k flat contribution to 401k regardless of your contribution is definitely top notch. Half-time overtime is laughable, but it's in the Pros section, because there doesn't have to be overtime at all. Very little taking work home with you.

    Cons

Job is extremely redundant. Sitting in front of a computer all day might not be for everyone. Priorities are often unclear or fluid based on the attitude of the day. Compensation is rather lackluster, especially in the way they promote. Usually, you are unofficially promoted first. Then, at the end of the year there may be a raise. However, that won't become effective until April 1. It's not retroactive, and we are paid on the 15th & last day of the month, meaning you won't see that raise until April 15. To be promoted to AVP (the lowest title you can have,) you must apply at the end of the year. Being located in RTP, you're also extremely replaceable considering the nearby schools.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I feel like the dress code is a simple way to improve morale. For the vast majority of days, there's no need for khakis/slacks and collared shirts for men. Jeans and t-shirts should be very sufficient. Also, the promotion policy is belittling.
