"Great Company to Throw Your Life Down the Drain With"

    • Comp & Benefits
    • Work/Life Balance
    • Career Opportunities

    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

I have been working at Brink's, Incorporated full-time

    Pros

Really is a struggle to think of any. I honestly can't think of any. I guess the only thing I can think of is local management (the corporate puppets) do actually try to work with you on certain things to appease and pacify you because even they are fully aware how messed up this company has become and how the hourly truck employees are treated like dogs by corporate. You definitely sense an empathy from them. Coworkers are generally cool too because of the common understanding that we are all part of this sinking joke of a company together.
Oh..and as a messenger, this job actually provides a good means to meet women.
    That's about it...pathetic huh?

    Cons

The very real fact that you put your life on the line every time you step off that truck, 50+ times/day (risking your family losing their father, husband, brother, etc) for the following...
-no time and a half after 45 hours of work per week...goes back to straight time after 45..and believe me, you WILL work 50-60 hours a week.(IS THIS EVEN LEGAL?)
    -no union
-ridiculous hourly pay rate for risking getting your head blown off.
-401k matching contributions were slashed to 1% (basically nothing).
-expensive and ever increasing premiums for the worst health care you could have.
-very minimal to non-existent profit sharing (as advertised in their employment ads) due to corporate setting unreachable "numbers" to meet...meanwhile you are on the road 12 + hours a day not taking any breaks, not being paid overtime but still not meeting the "numbers".
    -minimal to non-existent pay raises.
-3 paid sick days/year ..then if you call off a 4th day, you get written up! lol..for real.
-continually jamming the routes so dense that you do not have time for standard lunch breaks or even rest stops in most cases.
-poor work/life balance due to never knowing what days you will have off because schedules go up Thursday nights for the following week. (and no..you will not work just monday through friday)
-Lately, an ever so obvious practice of terminating top pay vets for trivial, unexplainable, seemingly "set-up" reasons. It does a budget good!
-Starting your day, walking into a workplace with the lowest morale I've ever seen in any other place I've worked.
-While management gets their yearly bonuses, you get a ham for Christmas bonus. Makes it all worth it huh?
-the disappointment of knowing you work hard for a company that has resorted to shady, borderline illegal (if not totally illegal) tactics to take away from you over and over again.

    I could go on..and on...and on....but I'm too tired of typing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Forget advice to corporate management..as if they listen..They're sitting in their huge lavish homes, sipping wine, laughing at this. While their underpaid, overworked, pee-on branch employees are struggling to survive, risking their lives so corporate management can maintain their lavish lifestyles.

Advice to all considering applying here. Listen to me. If you have zero self worth and zero self esteem and like risking a bullet in the head while struggling to pay bills, crappy healthcare, no advancement, being treated like a sub-human, for a mismanaged sinking company that will just keep taking away from you...then this is the job (not career) for YOU!!!

My prediction for this company is they will eventually give in, take the easy way out, sell off their armored assets, cash in and then focus solely on their product lines...just as Guardian and numerous other companies have done.
