I have been working at Arup full-time for more than 3 years

Arup is unique for a modern enginnering consultancy, its shareholders are its current staff. The shares are held in a trust, to prevent the current staff from grabbing the money and running, as has happened at all the other consultancies.
Set up by Ove Arup, a general genius enginner, its credo is find hard interesting work, find good people who like this type of work and let them at it. The big spilt within the firm is between the buildings design guys who work for an Architect and the Infrastructure guys who work for either a public of private client. The buildings guys think that they are cool and the infrastructure guys think that they are building a new world for everybody, one road or railway or port at a time.
    Good interesting work.
    Relaxed, maybe too relaxed approach.
If you build a good reputation you can go far, so networking upwards is vital.

Tends to expand to much doring the good times and then when times get bad tidder and then panic and let people go in the worst possible manner, with no consideration for their future value to the firm. This tends to leave a circle of Ex-Arup people, in the industry, who will not be interested in giving them any work.
More of an organism than an organisation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bad times happen in EPC every decade, plan for the next one now, Find a way to reduce the headcount, without letting go the firm's young talent, in an almost random manner.
