I worked at Ann Taylor part-time (more than a year)

I learned alot about Ann Taylor and I enjoyed working with my coworkers.
I also learned a lot about what fits well and how to put together an outfit for work etc
The company had a great discount on the clothes.
Ann Taylor is well known in the states and people love the brand.

The management staff at my location changed three times. Each management team was not following standards.

By far this is one of the worse companies I have worked for. I have worked for many companies in the past and the culture is atrocious. They don't help you move up in the company. No support whatsoever and they expect you to sell the brand and promote it when you are not being treated properly. If you can avoid working for Ann Taylor or Loft, especially in any of the Canadian stores I strongly advise you not to. They don't know the Canadian laws regarding Record Employment. It took them six weeks to give me my Record of Employment.

It's just not a good environment. Stressful, unhealthy, and management really needs to look at hiring staff that will benefit the whole team.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

For one, do not hire team members that you know or work with in the past. Make sure the management team gets to know their new staff. There should not be any pressure to wear the brand especially for those working part time.
Let employees borrow the clothing if need be because it's not cheap at all.
Make the management team knows the Employee Standards Act in Canada and let people know why their hours are being drastically changed. I went from getting 10 to 15 hours a week to one shift a month in a matter of weeks.

Have meetings with the staff. Get to know the staff and there should not be so much pressure to wear the brand
Loss prevention is another thing that needs to be revised. Staff members cannot prevent people from stealing. They can only do so much.
One more thing staff should not be expected to stay late when they are only scheduled at a certain time. We worked late alot at our store to make sure everything was perfect and the staff who opened didn't do as much work. They didn't have to make aure everything was perfect because the ones who worked the night before organized everything.
