Former Employee - Systems Engineer in Calgary, AB

I worked at ABB full-time (more than 3 years)

    - Steady work
    - Generally good atmosphere
    - Reliable company
    - Decent wages

    - Our small division was always at the bottom of any priority list, subsequently we constantly had issues getting development, retaining staff (I personally had 3 managers in 3 years)
    - No corporate direction if you're not running projects in the 100s of millions
    - Way too spread out (in Calgary, there's 5 or more offices)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Retention of middle management is a huge issue and affects morale and motivation at the lower levels. It's great to have a solid bottom line, but if you're constantly hiring new staff the individual offices and departments get lost.

    Positive Outlook
