Regional Response Specialist at Red Cross

No Offer – Interviewed in Chicago, IL (US) – Reviewed May 20, 2013 New

Interview Details Applied online, contacted for a phone interview a couple weeks later. Phone interview was basic, was given a lot of details about the position. A week or so later, received an email with the offer to com into the office for the in-person interview. I think originally there was suppose to be more than one person interviewing me. The 1:1 interview was pretty relaxed, felt more like a conversation than an intense interview. It was nearly a month before I received the rejection, which I expected since the in-person interviewer informed me the next round of interviews would be in the coming week and when I didn't get the call.. well.

Manufacturing Technician II at Red Cross

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Jan 2009 – Reviewed Feb 25, 2013

Interview Details The interview felt a bit stiff and scripted, as if they were more interested in the right "corporate speak" sound bites than honest answers of what you bring to the table. However, the hiring managers were cordial and easy going throughout the process.
Don't get discouraged if the process takes a while, the organization is known to be slow to recruit.

Interview Question – What are your weaknesses? Have you ever disagreed with your boss on a decision s/he has made? What are qualities you admire in a coworker?   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – no negotiation possible

Manufacturing Technician I at Red Cross

Accepted Offer – Interviewed on Durham, NC (US) Feb 2013 – Reviewed Feb 18, 2013

Interview Details I applied for the Manufacturing Technician position online at the Red Cross career page. I was notified, one week later, for an interview at the facility.

I was interviewed by two people, the manager of operations and a shift supervisor. I was asked general questions such as:

Tell about yourself,
Do you work well in groups?
Why should I hire you?
What are your experiences and skills?

And many other behavioral questions. For this position, they were looking for a team player who can follow instructions and handle stressful situations. Then I was asked if I had any questions. This part of the interview is CRITICAL. I asked many questions relating to job. Technical questions and questions about the staff were thoroughly discussed and answered by the interviewers. Then I was given a tour of the manufacturing department in which I asked relevant questions about the process and products.

One week after the interview, I was given an offer for the position - which I gladly accepted. I then was given forms to complete, background checks, drug testing material to prepare myself.

One week after the offer, I was scheduled for the new employee orientation which lasts a week from 8am-5pm.

It took me one month from applying to getting a job at the American Red Cross as a manufacturing technician.

Interview Question – There weren't many difficult questions, just how you answered and related your skills and experience to the position.   View Answer

Negotiation Details – I wasn't able to negotiate. But the position is entry level without a college degree,
