I applied online - interviewed at Monsanto Company in August 2012.

Interview Details They started right a way with the interview questions without informal chatting. No much greetin or welcoming in the interview. It was more like an oral examination. Two people asked questions alternatively. There was no discussion but only answering the questions they asked and they took notes of what I was saying. However, since I was prepared well I face each and every question very well.

Interview Question – Tell me about a situation when you were asked to do some thing in addition to what you were doing?   View Answer

I applied online and the process took 3 weeks - interviewed at Monsanto Company in January 2012.

Interview Details applied through a recruiter and the process took about 2+ weeks. I began with applying through one of the recruiting agencies and then someone got in touch with me. I was then told that I had made it through to the final interview which was a 3-4 hours interview at their Paddington office with 3 people. One of them being HR, another one was a senior manager and some other person who asked me behavioural questions. The interview began with the first person asking me about myself; about how I found out Cerner and what do I know about them. I had over researched the company and the person was really impressed with my knowledge. I had also done my final year project on healthcare industry which is what they do, hence that made a good impression on the interviewers as well. It lasted for 45 minutes and then I was given a short break before I could go to the next person.
The second person was HR who was interested in my background, my interests alongside competency based questions etc. This interview lasted for about 30 minutes, where I had to provide my details such as nationality, right to work etc.

Interview Question – used STAR techniques for most of the answers, make sure you use it as it gives them the impression that you analyse each situation you have been through in your career/life and that you understand how you would go about solving it if you faced it again. Another thing is don't panic if you don't know something, just say you don't know. We are graduates with no experience or may be one year if you do placement, so they don't expect us to know everything. What they do expect is that you should be capable of and eager to learn new skills   Answer Question

Patent Scientist/Patent AGent Interview

I applied through an employee referral and the process took 3 months - interviewed at Monsanto Company in July 2011.

Interview Details Overall, the process was very slow, even with someone on the inside who was promoting me. They used "behavioral interview" questioning, which was easy to prepare for thoroughly, as those questions are commonly used and widely available on the internet.

Interview Question – Because I had seen and prepared for most all of the questions, none of them felt very difficult and none were unexpected.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – they are unwilling to give signing bonuses, and did not move much on salary. They only bumped me up from their initial offer when they discovered the original offer was a couple of thousand less than one of the people I came in to manage. However, vacation is absolutely negotiable (if you do things right, you can negotiate for four weeks right off the block - this is the maximum amount of time they give anyone, but if you are performing well, they are very generous with comp time.

Interview Question – vague stat questions in general that without running stats, there is no way of knowing the best way to go. I think they were trying to understand my way of thinking.   Answer Question

Reason for Declining – I had accepted another position by the time they offered to me the job

Manufacturing Intern Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate
Saint Louis, MO (US)

I applied through college or university and the process took 2 days - interviewed at Monsanto Company in September 2013.

Interview Details After attending a career fair at my university, a Monsanto rep called me back that night, asking if I could interview the next morning. At the career fair, I had talked to a prior intern for the company, but not the company rep himself. Because of this, there was a misunderstanding as to what position I was applying for. (He wanted a Manufacturing Intern, but I was going for a research position.)

The interviewer was kind, and definitely helped make me feel relaxed during the interview. He even asked if this was my first interview, and gave me tips for the future. However, because of the misunderstanding with the position, he told me the most he could do was forward my resume to their R&D department.

Interview Question – How well do you work in group environments? Tell me about a time when you had a conflict with a coworker; and how it was resolved.   Answer Question
