Financial Consultant at MassMutual

No Offer – Interviewed in San Francisco, CA (US) Jan 2012 – Reviewed Mar 16, 2012

Interview Details The company is very young and enthusiastic about opportunities they have for the right candidate. They emphasize consistently that there is no pay upfront but that if you stay in a few years there will be a lot of pay for less work. They pay for half of your insurance license and upon hired you are trained for 4 days before you bring clients in. Nice office. NIce work culture.

Vice President at MassMutual

No Offer – Interviewed in Springfield, MA (US) Feb 2012 – Reviewed Mar 12, 2012

Interview Details Many different interviews, including a panel. Does not look like one person coordinated or talked woth others, about the candidates or the position. Left doubts who was running the place. Watch IT jobs, most IT jobs are in the business not in IT.

Interview Question – There was no difficult questions, but since this company s not cost or schedule driven, I suggest ou talk about scope.   View Answer

Insurance at MassMutual

No Offer – Interviewed in Oct 2011 – Reviewed Feb 19, 2012

Interview Details The interviewing process was very good. The people I met were very friendly and helpful. The office was nicely structured, and everyone seemed very professional. The interview lasted thirty minutes, and was very informative. I decided the position was not for me, and did not continue on to the next level. I did not receive an offer.

Interview Question – Describe any sales experience you have.   Answer Question

Marketing Consultant at MassMutual

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Walnut Creek, CA (US) Aug 2011 – Reviewed Feb 17, 2012

Interview Details After I applied online for the marketing associate position I got a call from the recruiter at the office and was told that the job entailed a couple of things that I was unable to do. However, I was told that there was a financial advisor position available if I was interested. I accepted the offer and went in for my initial interview, which went well. I then had to take a personality test online.
After a couple of more interviews and after obtaining my Life, Accident & Health License I got an offer that stated that I have to meet a quota before getting an option of choosing a declining base salary, which I was told was an option from the beginning.
The people in the office are very nice friendly and helpful and the office is laid out very well. The only thing to watch out for, as I said before, is the fact that they don't offer a base salary until you meet a quota.

Interview Question – Do you find it difficult to talk to and meet new people?   View Answer

General Accounting at MassMutual

No Offer – Interviewed in Nov 2011 – Reviewed Feb 02, 2012

Interview Details I was contacted by a recruiter for a position at MassMutual in Springfield. The interviews went very well and I was led to believe that an offer would be made. At the last minute, they decided to hire from within and this has been a problem with several clients. It seems that most companies are hiring from within (even if the candidate is less qualified), so that they won't have to pay any recruiters. Don't waste your time.

Actuarial Associate at MassMutual

Declined Offer – Interviewed in Oct 2011 – Reviewed Jan 12, 2012

Interview Details Interview consisted of four 1 on 1 interviews with actuaries and a lunch with two students in the program. Employees were very friendly and were down to earth people. The student program also seemed to be well organized. Questions on the interview were pretty standard and nothing too technical was asked.

Interview Question – Why do you want to be an actuary? Are you fully committed to taking all exams?   Answer Question

Reason for Declining – Mainly because of location in Springfield, MA. If the program had been closer to where I lived, I might have taken it.

Financial Service Professional at MassMutual

Declined Offer – Interviewed in Dec 2011 – Reviewed Dec 20, 2011

Interview Details Originally i was contacted by a recruiter which scheduled me to do an interview.
- The first interview was pretty basic, explaining how the position worked, following up with some basic interview questions. I was told to complete a personality test online before continuing on to the next interview.
- The Second interview consisted of more questions. These questions were mainly geared towards the understanding of the position and the type of person you are. Seeking that you are a rational, logical, motivated, and someone who can take rejection.

Overall I found everyone to be very nice and professional. The atmosphere of the office made me feel very high up and prestige.

Interview Questions

Reason for Declining – I didn't feel i would be able to market myself after using all of my natural resources (family & friends)

Account Manager at MassMutual

No Offer – Interviewed in Oct 2011 – Reviewed Nov 14, 2011

Interview Details Had a phone interview. Questons they asked were why sales and why mass mutual. They also ask you to rank yourself from 1-10 in competitiveness. Seems like they use the same questions for all the interviews because allthe questions they asked, I've already seen on glassdoor. I think not having sales experience probably hurt me the most
