Marketing Specialist at KPMG

No Offer – Reviewed Apr 22, 2013

Interview Details Had one of the worst experience in the history of phone interviews. Was initially considered for the same role and made it to the last round, however this time around had a bad experience with the HR contact. She told me a date and time to call and then didn't pick up. Responded an hour later and said she was having a busy morning and I should call back at another date. In the second attempt, she sounded extremely uninterested even before the first question. She was also typing so loudly that it was distracting to answer.

Summer Intern at KPMG

Accepted Offer – Interviewed on Vancouver, BC Oct 2008 – Reviewed Nov 10, 2012

Interview Details Campus Recruiting
The process was intense, but only because there were so many people trying to land limited positions. The real challenge is getting the interview. Resume and cover letters have to be solid and you must know someone on the inside.
Campus recruiting events are ridiculous as huge crowds gather around one person.

Interview Question – No very difficult questions. Just be sure you know why you want to work at KPMG (over the other Big 4) and why you want to be a CA   View Answer

Negotiation Details – There is no opportunity to negotiate.

Two 30 minute interviews back to back (behavioural with a recruiter and conversational with a partner), followed by a round table event where you were able to ask questions to the different aspects of the business. Afterwards broke into small groups and went out for lunch. Group consisted of 3 interviewees and 2 assosicates. Entire process lasted from 8:40am till 2:30pm. Post interview event was held near the saddledome that evening. The firm is very team orientated so make sure you go to all events.

IT at KPMG

Accepted Offer – Interviewed on Toronto, ON Feb 2011 – Reviewed Feb 20, 2012

Interview Details Both interviews were great and professional. The phone interview provided a good description of the job expectations and the environment. The 1:1 was very professional, focused on what I know and how I can bring value to the Team and to the company. One year later I can say that everything I was told in the interview still applies, and I still feel the same excitement as day one.

Interview Question – - Describe the most challenging project you worked on in your career.   Answer Question

Interview Details First round of interview is very casual where they just want to see that you are able to uphold a conversation. Not a lot of behavioral questions.

Second round of interviews is much more intensive and lasted about 3 hrs with general interviews with a senior manager where you just discuss ideas and stuff and a behavioral interview with a partner. Much more structured than the first one.
