Reason for Declining – No carrer path

Interview Details After an email a phone interview with human resource scheduled and I was asked about the salary and the reason I want to for GE. Then a 1:1 interview with manager scheduled and few weeks later a panel interview. finally after two months I contact them and they said they want to go with another candidate.

Interview Details Spoke with one of their general recruiting HR specialists. Totally unprepared and didn't have any good questions to ask me. Decided she would pass on my resume to one of the more specific departments. I followed up a few times but never heard back. To land a job here it definitely seems like you have to hound them.

Interview Details Originally hired along with 20 other customer care people due to regional move. Met office manager and HR, it went well. My second interview was 3 years later for the customer care manager position. Met with the office manager for that and it went welll.

Negotiation Details – There was nothing to negotiate, they offered an acceptable package that I couldn't refuse.

Interview Details Was interviewed by 2 engineering managers. One was a PhD. Mostly Behavioral Interview. Asked to go through resume and talk about it. Same questions, why do you want to work for GE? Talked about the nature of the work. Then asked about marks. And specific courses. Also asked about some of the basic equations such as Electric/Magnetic fields. What does it mean by magneto-statics? Give examples/analogies. Then at the end gave a tour of the Peterborough plant.

Interview Details Interviewers were looking for accounting person, not a finance person.
Asked some journal entry questions and behavioral questions.
They didn't see my CFA level 1 as an asset, but rather sign of interest in finance, not accounting.

Interview Details GE thinks it's the greatest company on earth. So you will be dealing with people with huge egos.

Reason for Declining – Family comes before work. In GE's world and culture, working for them is priority and who cares if your wife is pregnant and depressed?

Interview Details Very engaging/charming; they really try to wow' candidates with all the benefits and advantages of joining GE but note that the actual boss on the assignment was not part of the interviewing group and I was deceived into thinking that the job would be as good. Also the interview location is not the office location and they make no mention of the actual assignment and the job/tasks you will be doing. All a great lesson for future interviews!

Interview Details The interview process was 45 minutes and consisted of about five behavioural questions. The interviewer asked about experience leadership, team work, and a time you encountered a difficult situation. GE really emphasizes innovation so be sure to have a good example of applying a creative and innovative solution to a problem. They also asked why you want to work for GE as a FMP.
